Nice work DaveGunter! It sure got hot today! Keep adding to it and it'll dry up im sure. I worked a half day at work, then worked on the pole barn.

Dawn brought Maui to his new home (here) He's blowing off steam from the ride in a crate, in the shade with water & food. He'll stay in there tonight, then tomorrow he'll have 13 girls to get to know a little better. Either he'll mount em or they'll take out his tail feathers.

He's already taken advantage of a few of them, but that's what they do. We decided to do away with that crate and let him mingle. It was getting dark, the girls went in, but it took him awhile. He finally went in and made himself comfortable on the top roosting bar.

Gonna be a great addition once it's finished.

The pole barn, not the rooster.

Maybe, not yet though! We have enough eggs on hand that they can sit should we decide to. Some say roosters are a waste of space, but they are very good for the flock. The girls took him in, he's already been putting out warning calls of danger and jumps up, grabs a rasberry, calls them over and drops it on the ground for them.

Dawn took this picture when I sat down from mowing. He's been quite docile so far. They can get real nasty when pizzed!

I got a rooster on my last flock... maybe dinner, may not... just depends... he’s just learning that he’s got crowler... but it’s been interesting... I open the pen, the older ladies run out loving the freedom of roaming.... but my babies just stay in the pen..:loco: .... maybe they just like being by themselves...

It's cool listening to a young cockerel try to crow. Our new fellow has a low tone to him. I'm sure the pulleys will come out anytime now. They sure don't when there's snow on the ground.

Actually we were. I set a few ground rules for him. No crowing before 5am, no more than him & 1 hen on the roosting bar at a time, and the coop door stays open! :BrianK:

One bay will be open for whatever I guess. I'll be able to fit both ATV's side by side, will build heavy duty shelves for lighter implements, generator, plow, etc. As you can see, there's a ton of space above. Haven't totally figured out everything yet. Still wing'in it! It's roughly 27ft wide by 20 feet deep.

NH mountain man and his lovely wife swung by for awhile yesterday. He volunteered to help, but I needed some down time with drinks! :coldone:
