Gosh, I'd really melt. Used to every year. But it was tossed once Joey hit middle school to save for collage. Miss staying in the Tamworth area and Rosie's cooking!! :(

It always amazed me how HOT that race always was..
You'd feel like a chicken breast in an aluminum roasting pan...
We had gone for years, since the joint opened.

Then, my son started doing a lot of work with NASCAR, and we got to sit in the owner's suite..
When that was done, it was pretty hard going back!!

We are keeping cool with our roll around AC. and one dehumidifier. My brother in law just had a mini split installed. Just got off the phone with him. He says he loves the mini split. They are highly rated to be very thrifty with energy. Very good for both heating and cooling.

We got a LG window unit last year after fighting with a much larger roll around other than hating the warning on it, it works well.

I went once about ten years ago. Coolest part was standing close to the track when the cars go by. Pretty impressive. Glad I saw it once, but you couldn't drag me back again!

I have a dual hose portable, but it stays in one place. The 5 other window units take care of the rest.

I know the feeling for sure..

With our super cheap heat running the shells all winter, the summer is a horror show as far as the electric bill goes.

Most folks see the electric bill go up in the winter, but ours is the total opposite.

Fuel costs for winter are about $100 for the season (Shell costs)
The electric bill to run the stoves is minimal as compared to running the 4 ton central AC unit..

Despite what many may think, NW Oregon can/does get warm/hot at times during the June to Sept time frame.

This year has been an odd duck for sure with Temps down a bunch from the last several years.

We have yet to see 90 F this month so far (July) weather forecasters are hinting at maybe we will hit 90 F before the end of the month, but its looking less and less like it each passing day.

Last year we had 15 days of 90 or above in July.... plus a butt load of wildfire smoke too.

    Yesss indeed.
With each passing year I am feeling the ages creeping up on me as well.

Getting the shells hauled in and barreled up used to be a snap, now it's more work, takes longer to do and hurts more....

Then we have to carry 5 gallon buckets full of the stuff up to feed to stoves.

    Ahhh well, such is life.
