Well not a full tree. I tried but it lifted the rear tires of the atv off the ground.
Occurred to me instead of limbing everything where it fell I’d be better off moving it to the fire area then cutting it up. Less cleanup, less work.
Third pic is the second tree I took down. Definitely front wheel drive ;)

That looks so cool! I wouldn't want to move all those branches to the burn area either.

I've moved an untrimmed log before but it was an arborvitae headed to the dump.

I built a new arch with a longer removable tongue. Over 10' from tong to step down at the hitch. Have carried 20"+ x 20'+. ATV handles it very well.

Can you pull more of the tree into the arch and get the butt end strapped to the rail that has the ball hitch on it ?
May not be the proper way to carry a log but you have a tree. :wacky:

Mine extends further also. Never tried it, don’t know how far. Didn’t build the original arch just installed electric and tossed the handcrank.

Yes you could do that. Not really worth the trouble of course but it could be done. As is the arch will tolerate a very large amount of off centered weight extending off the back. In fact it relies on the log being off centered in order to use just one picking spot. Obviously I went too far beyond that point LOL. There are several ways to amuse oneself but only one way to learn the limitations. ;)

It was like a 40-50 foot tree picked about 5 feet from the base. That’s a lot of weight to pick extended like that. Easier to just make two trips.

Little bit. Took some time off from the actual firewood to tinker around the yard. Long overdue cleanup.
When I built the house in 92 I left as many tress as possible. Including some pines on either side of the septic tank. You know what thirsty pines do right?
It’s nice. Now I can look out the window and see the backyard :)

These particular pines were dying or dead and near my parking area. One good blow and they may dent metal. Time to go.
