There is a small pile of Ash sitting next to the road near where I work. My wife knows a lady who lives maybe 5-10 miles away who has the EAB on her property. I saw that small pile and all I can think of is that I could be bringing the EAB to my place. It’s so hard to drive by free wood!

X2 for above comment. Do you have any EAB infested trees on your property?

Have you observed/felled any ash on your property recently with no leaves. Now is the time to see if they are infested as the tree would be missing leaves obviously! Got one in maybe 100' into my woods to be dropped next Winter

I need to look for that. I usually mark dead and dying trees this time of year.

Been there . Our old property was about 40% ash. Could not cut it fast enough. Even had friends come cut a few times. Still had plenty that rotted away. Doesn’t last long in tree form.

If you have EAB that close, you probably have it there already...you just haven't seen the results yet...but you will, you will.
Look for trees with no leaves at the top...they die from the top down. And look for little D shaped holes in the bark, that's where they bore in. And if you find tracks like this when the bark is gone...ayup, EAB.

Yep. I concur with all of the above people regarding the EAB. Most of the trees on my lot at my house are ash. Probably 60% ash. All are infected/ dying. I've already cut 1 big one down, and I'll cut more down in fall/ winter. Replacing them with something is a challenge.

After I get the ash on my property TCO, then I'll be swimming in ash for years with CL and FB freebies.

Look for the D shaped holes instead. The holes will show before the leaf dies. And 30 miles is extremely close so I expect they will show up at your place very soon, sad to say. I remember reading when they were 35 miles from us. We started finding them the next year here.

Jack Straw you might even consider seeing if you could sell the ash now before the borer hits. May as well get some dollars out of them as to leave them to rot.

EAB just showed up in my neighborhood this year,,,,,as dying trees. That means it was here longer.
Thought I read many states have given up on quarantines. There’s just no stopping it.

I think you are correct. Quarantine, schmaurantine. Edit. I see they got rid of the county to county ban here.
