632AC6CD-59D4-4F73-87ED-981FDFE91883.png Even though the dew point has been hovering around 70 all day, when it’s hot like this, relative humidity is pretty low, the sun is blasting and the breeze is blowing which means great weather for drying split wood out in the open.

Yes it does... I'm helping our stacks with 2 fans blowing on them. This is our cooking temp right now... IMG_20190717_164511664_HDR.jpg

I know you’re a woodshed guy but that sun does miracles when it comes to drying wood

In coastal CT today we say 89 degrees and at peak saw a 78 degree dew pt. Air feels heavy.

The dew point is your main concern with drying wood.
At 61 wet bulb it’s not actually ideal- only 30deg of suppression to your 91 dry bulb.

The internal wood temp of the stacks will stay close to wetbulb overnight causing condensation and wicking.

When the humidity recedes say 90f 30-40rh your wood dries especially with some light breeze through the stacks.

In southern New England, we don’t see dew points below 65 for much of the summer. Although I often imagine must if the drying occurs in summer maybe it’s a close tie to between spring summer and fall.

Shoot, they can check on the ends even in the fall, winter and spring. I remember cutting a white oak and 3 days later the ends were all checked. Wood was FAR from dry. That's one more reason I put no importance of end checking.

25 miles from the ocean here in NJ so our dew points match and there’s no doubt in my mind wood seasons the most in summer, provided it’s out in the open being exposed to full sun and wind.

Been stupid hot and humid the last few days. Two more before it cools off some. Been working outside at work and then getting ready to paint my house after hours so been scraping and pressure washing and fixin too. Three shower days...

I’m right in the middle of the pink area, “feels like” 110f

Wow. Instead of 3 showers a day, I'd be tempted to camp out in the shower.

Will be spending the weekend camping in LaCrosse. Experiencing condensation and wicking.

It looks like most of the bad weather is east of us. Just some more general rain for now. Watch continues until 4 this afternoon. We may have gotten three quarters of an inch today and temps have dropped. At 7 this morning it was 80 and now at 1PM it is 67 degrees and way less humid.

Looks like a leading edge of thunder storms then rain. Most of the heavy rain looks to miss us...again. Normal for us.
