Here’s the local forecasted “feels like” temps for the week. Actual highs 95-100. This is for Philly which I am about 20 miles from but way less urbanized. It will be early days for sure on the wood pile.
It won’t be getting that cold. My guess is lows will hover close to 80. I have worked overnight splitting but the problem is humidity goes up at night and there is NO breeze.
I remember working on the shore in Rhode Island on really hot days and my boss saying “imagine what its like in providence” knowing that being away from the water and all that concrete made it a good 10 degrees warmer. Yuck
Hate Hate Hate this weather. Can’t get a decent nights rest when it gets like this. Thank goodness we finished all our first cutting hay this evening.
Dragging the A/C out of the basement and sticking it in the window is still on the to-do list. It hasn't been all that bad yet, although last night I rigged up a fan to blow some cooler air in from outside. I've been tempted to snag one of those one room window A/C for just the bedroom as they are quite a bit lighter and easier to put in but last year we didn't use the one we have.
Using our 4x4 beach pass to take the truck onto Brigantine beach today... firewood the rest of the week.
Yeah, on the plus side, great wood drying weather! I have some red maple that was fresh cut, debarked, split, and stacked in full sun in a single rack in the driveway on June 18. Going to take a moisture reading now and after this weekend, 98° forecast for Saturday.
My wife & daughter want to hit the beach for a few days but don’t like the commercialization of Atlantic City. Is Brigantine a quieter spot?
