My GF's mom lives couple houses up. Recent wind snapped this dead hickory, taking down her clothesline and breaking the 2x4 it was attached to on the deck.
10" DBH. Felled the stalk where most of the punk was. Got 4 wheelbarrows of rounds then the handle snapped. Carried the rest out the hard way maybe 150' from woods to truck. Some punk but 90-95% good meat. Nothing special, but it is hickory (pignut if im not mistaken) and close to home! A rare score for me. Also spied a dead oak (maybe 30' from this) and a partial blow down oak farther into her woods. Fall/Winter cutting. Has to be wheelbarrowed out.
Was on the hot side but not too humid. Worked up a good sweat, but was mostly in the shade. IMG_0662.JPG IMG_0663.JPG IMG_0664.JPG IMG_0665.JPG IMG_0666.JPG
Maybe 1/4 to a face cord. My friend gets the hickory!

buZZsaw BRAD I still have some of that hickory I need to split. Any hickory score is a good one to me.

How long have you owned your 261C? I just scored one cheap on ebay. It was supposed to be a 261C but i opened the box and it was the 261 version.

5 or 6 years, but I haven't used it much since I have two 562xp's. One mild and one extra spicy.

In the second picture on the right is tree with what looks like fungi all over it. If it is fungi, I have never seen a tree so covered in it. What kind of tree is it?

That is common around here after a tree dies and we don't cut it up. Around our place, when it gets to that point it is usually punky wood.

got home late this afternoon and decided to split the rest of the hickory from Saturday. Guess i didnt expend enough energy. IMG_0687.JPG
First wood spider ive seen this year. A big one too! AKA as Huntsman spiders. IMG_0689.JPG
Decent little mound of splits. Not too much punk either.
