I spent several hours outside cleaning up the hemlock limb and smaller apple branches. Maybe 3 or 4 more loads and that should be it. Lots of water breaks as it was a bit exhausting.

It is 84* and very humid. Weeded the cantaloupe and put down mulch. Got a little start on the cucumbers. Surprise surprise surprise found 3 cukes ready to pick and about a half a dozen more ready in a couple of days. Just to hot and humid to work. Came in showered and cracked open a cold one.
We have to leave for a 4th of July picnic in a little over an hour and off to the fireworks. The garden will wait until tomorrow or another day. Slow and steady a row a day.
    Happy 4th everyone.

x2 and same to you :)

We went to an Independence Day celebration in town, it was more than I expected. Patriotism everywhere you could look, what a fun time  LET FREEDOM RING!

Surprised how many people are out here where we live, more than I've seen before, should be quite the fireworks show tonight (hope I make it til 10 pm  )

I realized why there have been so many large fireworks near our house (opposed to a couple miles down the road where the public camping is) the last few days, a new to the neighborhood neighbor has 11 units, 5th wheel/RV/camper trailers AND more tents between their yard and some open land  . Everybody have a fun safe night.

Thank you for sharing. Proper display and etiquette is the only way. Means so much to us. Few years back, I saw a woman across the street sitting on an American Flag on the sidewalk so she wouldn't dirty her white pants while she watched the passing 4th of July parade. About the same time, there was a car in the parade representing the Maine Veteran's Homes. The car's occupants were tossing out flags for the observers of the parade. Only thing was these flags were landing on the street where they were retrieved like the candy was. Both things made me very sad and ashamed that there didn't seem to be any awareness about the do's and don'ts when handling an American flag.

Went out on the lake a few hours this afternoon. A thunderstorm passed us or rained out before it got to us. One blew up right as we got home but never rained here. Blew and close lightning is all.

Was about 94f here. Water surface temp 10"s or so below the surface was 90f in the lake. Again this lake is 80,000 acres and where I was pulled up it was 59 foot or so deep in the middle. Down toward dam it's 80-100ft or more. So it's not like it's a 12ft deep lake.
