Because of all of the flooding around here, I haven't been able to get any splitting done, so I've been watching the river rise and drinking beer. So, I thought I'd ask, what kind of Beer do you all like? Personally I like a nice dark malt porter or a german dark. I know that tastes differ, so I figured I'd ask. Have any of you tried something that you might think that someone else might like?
Why yes. Yes I have. The trouble with that question on this forum is I think there are many, many folk on here that would like almost all beer that I tried and liked, or even didn't like. LOFL! WE are a crowd of beer likers! Well, some of us like to drink it "sometimes". PhhPhhh I like Yuengling on draft. Amongst a "few" others.
Anything with lots of hops. IPAs and IIPAs for me. I also like a sweet stout, like Bell's Kalamazoo, and Dragon's Milk could be quite addictive if it weren't so expensive. My go-to cheap beer is PBR. Probably the best of the watered down, cheap American-style pilsner. It really shouldn't even be called a pilsner. 'Slotta water.
I like the Bell's two hearted ale and Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald about the best. There's some decent stuff coming from Highland Brewing Company. Decent IPA and some good mocha stouts. I've brewed 5 gallons of IPA here and waiting on it to carbonate itself good.
Let's see. I also like the Labatt Blue Light, Magic Hat, so many beers I've had and liked. Mmmmmm. Beer.
Decisions, decisions, I can't make up my mind. Maybe we had better meet up at Ray's Place in Kent and go over a few of my finalists.
My beer story of the day is: I was going through customs at the Keflavik airport in Iceland this afternoon with a bunch of big beer bottles, some with the cork and wire bales that look a lot like champagne bottles. Half of it was in a cardboard box, all packed up nice in foam. The beer is for a friend of mine in Iceland. So the limits for importing alcohol to Iceland are 1 liter of wine or 6 liters of beer. The dude in customs picks me at random and decides he wants to x-ray my bags. He sees the bottles. He asks me what the bottles are and I say beer and then he asks me why they look wine bottles and he says he is going to open my bag to look. So he cuts open the box, sees that it really is beer and starts talking to me about what I brought and that he loves good beer and I had a bottle of Yeti Chocolate Stout that he wished he could get. So he tapes my box back up and sends me on my way.
OOOOOOOOOO Ok I won't be a jerk lol Ill start a new thread Paul…. That topic is a god one and I can easily take over a thread
Here is a photo of ID1's hand putting one of his favorite beverages to the setting sun in about 1986.
My friend from New York rode along with me up to Woodstock in New Hampshire Saturday morning. On the way home he asked me to stop at a nice shop just off Route 91 in New Hampshire, just before the Massachusetts state line. He stocked up on all the necessaries and sent me home with this for my troubles. It's great mixed with a bit of whiskey sour mix.
I've always been amused by the NH state liquor store in the highway rest area just across the state line from MA.
