Yesterday I spent some time in the basement installing insulation support wires everywhere. The batts were friction fit in the joists and sagging. We grabbed more boxes out from storage that had books and pictures. The house feels more like a home with these items.

An unused brick smokestack was hit by lightning in the downtown area of the city yesterday. It has a slight lean towards the building. 80+ people were evacuated, and the debris field of bricks was pretty good-sized. Some cars were damaged. Pic is from the net and not mine. It is scheduled for demolition today.

Can anyone ID this tree? I think it may be Ailanthus. The bark is not like sumac or locust. I think it may need some :saw:today. It is multi-trunk and spreading out.

I also need to cut some vines out of the two oaks. My son had two attached, very small ticks on him this weekend, so we are a bit cautious going in the brush lately.

That looks deer tick sized :startled:
Are y’all against using Permithrin on dedicated woods clothing? Just asking is all.

Never messed with Ailanthus, so no help unfortunately.

Time to go for a walk/run with my son this morning. We are trying to go everyday now because we have been slacking off lately. After that it will be time to :saw: some firewood out of a bunch of downed trees I have from clearing that future pasture area. He will haul it to the processing area with his wheeler and the trailer for splitting and stacking. The girls will be helping their Mom stain the front porch.

I concur with Eric. That looks like a deer tick. Permithrin works great. You can buy large bottles of it on Amazon for cheap.

I've never had the displeasure of dealing with alianthus either. I'll keep it that way.

My wallet is still soaked from yesterday's deluge while on the lake. I put my wallet into my back jean pocket, and now I have WAS on my right cheek.

Holy crap. Are peaches ripe now? They won't ripen here until mid August.

We don't can any more and much prefer them frozen.

Thanks everyone for the anniversary greetings. Now we will be working on # 58. And tomorrow is our oldest son's birthday. I thought it was handy to have our wedding on June 30 and our first son born July 2. He'll be 56 tomorrow. (I usually don't tell his age but my wife then hollers at me. lol)

Watch where they were attached and if you see the bullseye then get into docs. They will probably put you on a course of antibiotics. That is what they did to me a few years ago when I found a bullseye a few years ago

Peach Truck is where my peaches came from. A little pricey but way better than I can get in the stores around here.

I could not see a white spot on the back of the tick, so it could have been a deer tick.

We dont have dedicated woods clothes yet. We have some renovation work to do first to store them away from pets
