Fine tuned a few holes after the father's day fun today. After re-running the lines off the batter boards, 3 holes were too close to the edge of where I wanted to put posts. No biggie, did some shaving and things are perfect. Better to get it right now than to fight being outta plum the whole way through. Tomorrow I hope to start pouring, hoping to at least get the corners done. Quite a few bags per hole. I'm gonna be hurting my the afternoon. Only using a wheelbarrow and a hoe to mix.

 

4 holes done! 8 to go, got a late start. Took about an hour a hole, was warm out. Hoping to bang out another 2 tomorrow after work.

Got a bit done today. Everything is braced for now until I finish the plates. (2x12's doubled up) One I finish them in the next day or two (see the homemade scaffolding) I'll run the straps around the sides and begin the knee braces then roof rafters. I'll likely build the ladder style overhangs on the sides and front to give it the salt box look. Lastly before the snow flies, tin roof.



B2650 making good use of the forks holding a 2x8 level to attach to the front post to keep it level. I ended up building scaffolding out of a 2x12 to make it easier attaching the plates. A little too hard & dangerous carrying them up the ladder.







Ended up doing alot with the forks, did all my 6x6 notching on em.

 

Yes, the posts and straps are treated. The boards running horizontal in the pic are temporary braces along with that crooked 2x4 on the top right I used as a railing. It's way higher than the pic shows. The 2x8 roof rafters may or may not be treated. Gonna check on price. I've been doing this 100% by myself so far. Matt is away for the summer and Dawn has been tied up getting things ready for her family this week. When your doing it by yourself, you gotta figure out how to use the equipment to your advantage and take extra steps to make jigs to hold lumber etc. I'm pretty sore today, I feel like I did Jefferson, lol.

 

Thanks, long way to go, eventually I'll put in solar lighting and maybe figure out some big doors, I don't know yet.....

 

Thanks! I checked the radar and decided to quick put up 2 tarps. Many have seen the shed that's packed to the gills.i can't wait to get all the crap and equipment down there.

There was a small shed there decades ago I believe. When we moved here I burned a ton of the wood that was left behind, but there is still some bits of glass. It'll be nice to complete this and get some stone down, then more material for the final grade. There will be shelves in there ill keep some stuff on and I made it so the snow sheds off the back, I'll be able to back the kubota in and put pallets of stuff and implements up top. Once all the stuff is in there, I'm guessing the bays will be 1 1/2 full. Might get a few goats to use a bay, not totally sure yet. My plan for a wood shed will be at the area where the telephone booth was. Still using the rickety storage mess in the back. Time & money the biggest enemy.

 

Can't wait to get the roof on! Another couple weeks!
