Well, we got set up on the next shed, got a skid full of oak loaded, splitter, fan and lights ready. Took about 45 minutes to measure, buck and pile, ready for this evening. My hunny might get the smaller ones done before I get off...
My mama and us burn wood, we sell some and our church has wood ministry to a few families that need it.
My hunny done showed out again. She fixed a couple dishes of food and went to a funeral at 11:00 AM yesterday morning, then came to town and got us lunch. When she got home, she went to the wood pile. I had a job when I got off at 7 PM. The pile she had split when I got home Got that pile stacked, Almost a face cord, the pallets are 50x50" ... I split the big rounds she couldn't handle. We finished up about 9 last night. We will start again this evening, hope to finish this up tomorrow sometime...
Looking great folks! Some real neat stacking there. You two make a great wood processing tag team. How much will that shed hold? Is it a new one?
Thank you sir, we tag team life pretty well too.... No sir, that shed is several years old, been filled a few times. A good friend lives about 60-65 miles from us and hunts in our area. He needs 16" wood, split small, so I priced him the rack, he picks some up when down here and leaves some $$. The shed holds a cord, cut 16", stacked top of pallet, so it probably holds 1.3 cords full to the top. I'll measure it when I get home.
You 2 are hard workers, give your wife a pat on the back for me, its great to see a couple work the way you 2 do. Nice little shed you built there, and i thought it was on fire too, lol I get my wood by myself, cut, split and stack it on my own, but, thats fine, keep me busy. Great job on the nice cutting, splitting and stacking.
Hay, i just noticed some thing, GREAT way to utilize grader blades!! I used to be able to get a bunch of them, but, since i'm retired, my source has dried up. Now thats the way to build a wood shed!!
Thank you sir.I will give her that pat on the back...I have worked by myself, but she is a worrier, doesn't like me to run the saw by myself, accidents do happen...glad she is able and willing to share the load with me.
You are the first to comment on the blade post... don't have to worry about those rotting...lol...made it easy to raise the roof a foot too, after I cracked my head on it a few times. Dad got a bunch of those from the county road dept years ago for $1.50 each. We used them for fence post.
I ran one for a long, long time worked for the county, as well. they used to give them away, until some guy's started using them for fence posts. I like your idea, better. I know where there's about a dozen or so of them, and the guy wants to get rid of them. I've thought about chopping off a chunk of one and trying to make a knife out if it. One of my working buddy's raised his head up one day square under the cutting bit of a back hoe bucket. Boy he jumped around there for 4-5 min like a frog in a hot skillet. Next time he wore his hard hat when he worked on the hoe. lol One thing for sure, you take a look at a set of blades, you know who the guy is, and how good of a grader operator he is, real quick.
Set a goal this morning, finish the small shed... This is where we stopped last night @ 11pm. Got a couple more hickory and 6 oak logs out to buck up... My hunny said I'm her hard working lumberjack...lol... This red oak had very little sap, beautiful wood. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED I measured it out...1.25 cords.... Time to reap the rewards of a job well done... Gonna tackle the jungle in the morning, so we can start on these sheds...
Got to the wood yard this morning and it was singing to me... I brought out my secret weapon.... I said... A few hours later... If ya cut yo weeds and bushes and find a couple wood sheds....ya might be a REDNECK...
