Found a wood carver in a tiny village in Nova Scotia today and this was on his front porch. I ask him what he would make with it and he said he sees a beaver in it. He added that he would have to add an extra piece of wood to it for a tail. Well okay.....

is that a log with a big burl? I have saved a couple like that. Are they worth anything other than firewood?

Yes. Burls can fetch a few bucks on CL or FB marketplace.

More than just wood turners like them. Carvers, furniture restorers, fine furniture makers, inlays, etc...

I can see it as a full curl ram head. Cut off the back log part.

She is wearing shoes so she doesn't step in any poo from deer or dogs in the yard.

They don’t have much for pictures on their website, but maybe on Facebook! Check out the “ knotty shop”. It’s in Alaska, cool place! The outside is highly decorated with burls many of them made into animals

Maybe she’s on the beach. Then it’s not so dangerous.
In that case she’s probably picking up her flip flops, not actually tying any shoes.
Ralphie Boy, was it a nice beach day?

It depends on the type of wood. I've read about burls going for as much as $400 per pound! There have been problems in parks with people sneaking in cutting burls because of their value.
