welcome to the forum Manuel great to have you on board. Hand splitter myself. Do you hand split as well?
Yes, my grandfather loved to work his wood lots and love to fish for trout. Always told me that the great outsdoors was his church. im sure he would have loved all the firewood chat here. He would have fit right in for sure. The whole internet thing may have given him trouble through lol.
Why was everyone and every thing so much cooler in the 70's. I wish I could go back even just for a vacation. Wouldn't that be cool? "I'm leaving for a month." Where are you going? "back to the 70's... maybe visit the bad old days of New York City". Someone invent that time machine already!!!
My old house had central AC and i miss it. We havent put in the two AC's yet and maybe one day so far we needed it. No complaints from me, i hate humidity. If it gets too hot in the tri-state area we can all head over to MikeyB 's and go in his pool. Although he may want us to process some wood first!
No offence to MikeyB , but if I'm going to Long Island I'm jumping into the Great South Bay. I grew up on the Bay in the 70's and the only pool I swam in was the Babylon public pool that's how you know I'm cool. That said I'd definitely have a drink with the fellas after jumping in his pool to wash the bay off me haha!
i havent been in LI sound since i was a kid going to Hamonassett beach....early 1980's. Doubt id swim in it today. Block Island water is nice. Chest deep you can still see your feet!
Murky, cloudy ocean water is nutrient rich and supports life. Also, On a calm day sediment has a chance to fall out from the minimal upwelling.
Back in those days Yes even in the 70's most didn't have expencive SLR cameras. So it it ovisus a ladder was used to climb up there and taken away by the person operating the shutter. then put back in place so he could get down. Very impressive pile of fire wood for sure. Probably cut useing a buzz saw too. Al
Well I would most likely be digging into the sediment and kicking it up treading for clams. That's probably why I'm not into pools, nothing to hunt for and eat.
Fotomat opened their first parking lot kiosk in 1965. To compete with the mail order developement giants.
Welcome Manuel and Road-side Oak . Awesome pics Road-side Oak ! Your grandfather sounds like he was a great man. The outdoors being his church is a neat concept. For an older dude he looks to be in great shape. That's one of the great things about cutting, splitting, stacking firewood: It really is a good workout and keeps us healthy. ( Both physically and mentally. )
You could get film devloped at about any drug store and Chain like Target, K mart and Mejir's. But if you wanted to take a times photo you had to set up a SRL cam era to be able to do it. The box cameras and instmatics couldn't do it. So most pictures were taken by a camera operator. Al
