Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I thought some of you would appreciate it....my brother just sent me this old picture of my grandfather in front of his stacks. The photo is probably from the early to mid 1970’s. I guess fire wood hoarding is genetic! This is for sure wher I get it from. He cut and sold firewood in his retirement years in Western Mass. ,heated his house with wood. All that wood is hand split. The man was deadly accurate with a maul apparently. If he was still around I think he would be happy to see I caught the bug!
I would like this 10 times if I could!! He looks to be in great shape at the time that picture was taken.
OMG what a cool pic. At first i thought it was a picture you had just about wood to share, then when i read further, even cooler. Do you aspire Road-side Oak to have your wood hoard the same size? My dad and uncle were the cutters and burners. My mom is the hoarder...not of wood, but just about anything else imaginable! This forum will only feed that...trust me as ive discovered!!! Thank you so much sharing that! Two thumbs up
I’m thinking ladder on the other side. I’m pretty sure I have seen him stacking with ladders in other family photos. If i ever find em I’ll post them. From the looks of it in this photo he too was building a zombie wall cigarsmokingzombie. It’s crazy how high he stacked; not really sure how efficient that was but he should did max out the cordage he could fit in his yard.
That's awesome Road-side Oak ! My grandfather is where I got it as well, he loved everything outdoors.
Great pic. That's a lot of wood in a small space. Where did he get it from? I always like to see hand splitters.
It’s like those logic puzzles- maybe he got up there due to 3 ft of snow and decided to hang out there bc, well, it’s just a cool place to be. Great pic!
