Admirable! I wish my back was up to that. I think it’s wonderful but please remember you only get on back. Just experience talking. Best of luck to you on your goal!!

I use machinery where possible. I have a JD tractor with forks for picking up logs and cutting at waist height and a tw6 splitter with log lift.

X2. ..... very well said amateur cutter. Those kids may or may not know it yet, but the hard work ethic they are leaning is infinitely more valuable than whatever their hourly wage is. What a cool summer job for jrider and his crew. Great start to your summer season Joe, solid work! Looking at those piles they look like you were using a conveyer... but I guess not? All hand thrown?

All hand thrown. I’m very particular about how my split piles look. I like em to be the same width and height and be straight as well. It’s my version of artwork just with firewood

Spent about 4 hours cutting today. Weather was amazing for working - low 70’s cloudy, breezy with dropping humidity. Here’s a picture of a couple logs on the forks along with my saw and 24” bar. Also a shot of what my socks and sneakers look like when I’m done each day.

One reason I only process from 25F-60F. I also don't cut 150 cords a year, or even a decade.

I don’t mind the chips at all. Much prefer that than wearing pants

I’m surprised you don’t rock steel toes, is the log in front of the tractor a toe protector? Or just the next log on deck?
