No fuse box that I'm aware of, just a single 20 AMP. No idea what's powered with key off. I may pull the battery tomorrow to see what's behind there that could have been pinched in the "ditch mowing incident".
What model and make are we dealing with? We may be able to pull up a wiring schematic on the net and find out what is powered off with the key in the off position.
Here is the diagram...if it is the right one. https://polr.partstree.com/v1/iplim...B0aW9ucyI7YToxOntzOjU6IndpZHRoIjtpOjEwMDA7fX0 Looks like there is not too much hot with the key off. Red wire from the battery to the starter solenoid/relay...then red wire to your 20A fuse...comes out of the fuse as a red and white wire, which goes to the alternator and then also terminal B on the key switch. Should be all you need to check out...unless you find that there is another terminal on the back of the key switch that is hot with the key off, then you would need to follow that wire too...
Nah, I was gone half the day and it rained the other half. Looks like I'll be gone again tomorrow for a few hours, and more rain. Is this April?
Spent some time this morning pulling the battery and tracing wires looking for fraying or loose connections. Can't find anything. Can't find any breaks or metal contact in the PTO wiring. Tried another fuse and it blew with quite a bit of exciting sparking and crackling. That was fun......again. I'm going to call the tractor guy and see if I can drop it off at his place sometime this week.
The buckets are hard to find anymore...can still get aerosol though... GRAINGER APPROVED Smoke Detector Tester, 2.5 oz. Aerosol; For Use With Residential or Commercial Detectors; Provides F - 8XZH8|25S - Grainger
Took it to the shop yesterday. First guy was backed up for a month, so it's at a Can-Am/Cub dealer where I've taken it before. They MAY get to it by this weekend, but I'm not holding my breath. It's raining again anyway.
Loaner mower. G.T.S. model with pelletized fertilizer dispenser. I hope the shop can get it squared out for you.
Self propelled...self guided...mows ditches too... Heck, in some parts of the country (U.P.? ) 'twould even double as a date for Friday night
So, talked to the shop on Wednesday and they're stumped. Seems the engine won't budge, so the thought is maybe some oil got in one of the cylinders when it tipped. That wouldn't cause the fuse to pop when being installed, but it would explain why the engine won't turn over. They said they're only about $40 in so far, so I gave the go ahead to check some more. Hoping it doesn't turn into a VERY LARGE paperweight. Wouldn't fit on the desk.
Thanks Eric. Probably won't hear from them until sometime next week......they were swamped when I took it in, and they had one of the mechs. out last week on vacay. Been mowing with the human advantage mowing device (me and the push mower), doing a section of the yard whenever it's not raining and I happen to be home. Did some yesterday in the heat, then again this morning before it got too bad out. 50 minutes this morning to do about 20% of the yard. 50 minutes on the tractor would get the WHOLE yard done.
Well, regarding the electrical, there are a finite number of possibilities. We are constantly troubleshooting electrical fences, and out of several miles worth of fences I can usually isolate a small section with three or four tests (switches, strategically placed). Not quite a binary search, but as long as they are employing some sort of intelligence-guided search they ought to be able to find it in “short” order. That said, I’ve lacked the necessary intelligence on quite a number of occasions! Hope it is a simple, cheap fix!
