So, mowing a few days ago with the GT, and was down in the ditch at a bit of an angle. (you may know what's coming next) Got stuck......the mowing deck was stuck in the ground on both sides of the ditch. So, I got a tow strap, hooked it to the Jeep and the GT and gave it a couple of what I thought were gentle tugs. Yeah, it tipped up almost on it's side. Here's the real problem (I was able to get it upright and outta' the ditch)......now it won't start. Nothing. Won't turn over, the lights on the "dash" don't come on....nuthin'. WTH could it be? I'd rather not take it to the shop, but I will if I have to. I need this thing to haul firewood. HELP!!
I'd start with a good wiring check. Make sure battery terminals didn't come loose. Check for bad/broken ground wire.
All that jostling around loosen a battery connection...or just plain DOA the battery? I've had battery's suddenly fail catastrophically after a big jolt such as being flipped over.
Wait, I thought that was a Jeep Thing. The charger is still out where I have the GT, I'll go plug it in and see what happens. Thatnks for the suggestion. BRB
Charger showed full before I even got back to the front door (about 15' away from the GT). Hmmm Pizza time, so I'll go back out after and have a look.
It have fuses? Get the test light or multimeter out and see where the power disappears...start at the battery and follow the wires to the key switch. And don't ignore the ground side...people forget that you need the ground to have a complete circuit (power) Enjoy your pizza pie
Papadave do you have a multimeter? A quick check for ground is to check continuity between negative battery terminal and the chassis. If you can access the back of the switch, check voltage across pos n neg terminals there.
Is that the one under the seat? I do have a MM, but never used one. Now, where did I put that little bugger............
I think so but I have never had to deal with one, they either have already been jumpered or the tractor may not have had one. I don't think my cub cadet 129 has one.
There's likely one under the seat, and may be one on the brake system as well. If'n ya find your MM.. Set for continuity.. Set for voltage.. You will want to make sure it's set for DC voltage. The DC symbol is the solid/dashed lines. Wavy line is AC
Sounds like the operator done made a Boo Boo............going to need to start chasing wiring. my guess is there is a safety switch on the blade engage and when you yanked the deck it broke, came loose , also one on the shifter, neutral safety, seat already mentioned,
The safety switches shouldn't keep any and all lights/dash from powering up...they would keep it from cranking over though...
Big word of advice I neglected earlier.. Do not check for voltage while in continuity mode. Your meter likely has a fuse to protect it, but..
