don2222 we are good on height as finished is about 1/2" taller than previously. Doors are good and baseboards sit ok.

I'm calling them done. New grout is so pretty, but in another year it will match the old. All in all the transition area is better than I expected for my own work.

I used caulk and added the grout as sand on the top before it dried for wood to tile transition. Had a feeling grout would just crack with wood movement.

Nice clean work. Those angled tiles and transition look great.

Thanks for the kind words. Coming from a craftsman such as yourself it means a lot!

This was my nightmare area, but I like the outcome. Kind of want to re-grout the whole thing but got bigger fish to fry right now.

That looks really nice. As a quilter, I really appreciate that last row of tile. Not easy to accomplish.

Just me, but I hate using caulk on the floor, as it REALLY likes to collect dirt and hang onto it. Might not be too bad since you added some grout.
    Otherwise, that looks well done.
    What's next?

That is why I like to use Dark Gray grout or caulk. :)

We shall see how the caulk holds up. As I explained, grout is likely to crack between wood and tile, or so my brain thinks??

BUT, in a year if it looks like hell, I will try grout. I really wanted to avoid an unsightly T transition piece. Not a fan of that look.

papadave Next project... is to finish this one well. Windows need another coat of stain, poly will wait for pollen season to pass. Base moldings, new window treatments. Oh and have to add another baseboard back that was along the now gone wall. Not that we need it, but the next person may.

I still have my retaining wall to complete. That's in another thread.

Yep, I was trying to keep up with that one too.
On the grout....I used some grout between the tile hearth surface and wood trim surround......it pulled away from the wood. :headbang:
