Took the wife for a ride on the ridge in the new buggy. Threw some wood in there just because. Doesn’t hold a lot but I had to come down anyway so why not? I can put some pegs in the side pockets and get more in. I think coming down with the little trailer might work if it’s dry. A bit steep and slippery if it isn’t. Have any pics of your trailer? Do those have engine braking? Active decent control? Must have a low gear range. Or maybe it’s just the traction your worried about? Hey play with it for awhile. Then get crazy.
Yes. It has an assist piston to help lift the dump bed but a bit of effort with that much wood in it. I don’t know if it would work with a bigger load without overstressing the hinges. Keep in mind I’m brand new to this so may not know what I’m talking about but in low range as long as the engine rpms are up a little bit, the clutch seems to brake a bit. When the rpms drop, it free wheels. It is steep off the hill but the 4 wheel brakes work well with little pressure. This is the little trailer I use with my quad. It jack knifed on me coming down a hill in the rain but the Ranger might handle it better.

Obviously you know the situation better than anyone. Downhill is the hard part for sure. Nice trailer. If the day comes you want to try it I might suggest a load in the dump box and a load in the trailer. BUT!! Maybe not a row in the back of the trailer. Try to keep more weight on the tongue. Should help braking by keeping the weight on the tires and lessening the push. Then it’s a question of tire traction. Good luck.

Our Suziki Kingquad has great engine breaking, I barely ever hit the brakes coming downhill, even with a load behind it. It's quite reassuring to know I'm not freewheeling down the hill with a load.
My Polaris sportsman has very effective engine breaking too. Took a little getting used too. Like you hardly ever use the brakes.
Reloader picking up a small load is still picking up a load. Keep at it, and more pics of that beautiful scenery please.
Might I suggest not loading the rear of the trailer so high? The way you have it loaded it is going to be too light on the tongue. This is always the problem with trailers that are meant to tip. But if the axle were moved back a few inches then it would not be a problem. Try putting in one or 2 tiers at best and it should do much better.
