I have a neighbor that’s moving in about a month. He needs a new septic field and had 10 oak trees marked to come down. He could only put 1 on the ground himself so he asked for my help. So we dropped a few smaller ones with the air of a rope and some hand pulling then dropped the last 3 which were decent sized with a heavier rope and my truck to persuade them to go where we wanted. All went well and now it’s time for me to load up the wood and take off his hands. This will probably end up being about 1.5-1.75 cords. He did give me a funny look though when I handed him a tape measure and sidewalk chalk and told him 16” please! Haha!!
Nice looking wood and score jrider I was marking off the same today. A carpenters folding ruler works great and slips nicely in the back pocket. Chalk got a bit sweaty in my front pocket though!
Got the rest cut and loaded. Probably put 3-3.5 hours of workin for this oak which ended up being closer to 2.5 cords in total. Nothing is bigger that 16-18” in diameter.
Since my main splitter is a 6 way, 12”-16”...one shot I have 6 equal size pieces that don’t need to be resplit
