This is pretty simular to how we did fire wood when I was a kid age about 8 when I was interducte to it. I was the little guy that caught the cut round and tossed it in the wagons and pick ups. Of course when we got in the bigger stuff I was put aside so one of the men (dad, or uncles ) could do that big stuff. Dad and 2 brothers shared this labor every fall. in the spring they shared cleaning up the winter manure pile on the farms. Al
I was about 12 years old when my Dad and I did a semi load of slab wood for my aunt. Used a John Deere LI with the “saw rig”
great video trail twister Never seen one used in person. Didnt know it was an actual firewood making tool til i joined the forum!
That's a great video Al! We ran off an old Case VAC. Grandpa, Dad, Uncle, & us three boys. Made firewood for three homes that way. Great memories.
We also ran our stanionary buzz rig with a 1954 Case vac (e), latter had a mounted rig on a WC allis so we didn't have to skid the wood to a central pile. My brother is on th efar side, I am in the seat and my city cousin is on the left fender. Moms 47 Studabaker cammander in the back ground and my aunts 49(I think) Ford. This VAC (E) was a proto type for the 300 that came out in later years. It had a Continental OHV engine and live power. Really should have had power steering when the cultvators were mounted. I'd stand on the running board and put all my weight on turning the wheel with the cultvators mounted. Al
