Had to go to the compost center to get dirt this afternoon, but i had one thing on my mind. It was very busy, i pull up to the brush pile and there is a different guy on the payloader. Talked to him a bit, then asked if i could take some wood and he says sure! There was a lot of lengths and big rounds. Having limited time i grabbed some dead ash, cherry, and a few longer splits (looks like someone got rid of their leftover wood supply). 1/3 of a PU full then got my dirt. Problem was the lengths i grabbed are all over the place. Cant beat the price!

Man that is a lot of great red oak going to waste. They don’t allow cutting there with your chainsaw right?

normally you are not allowed to take any wood at all The Muzzy The other guy allowed me to come after they closed and cut a PU full. (see my thread down in the dumps, with a happy ending!) This was a guy ive never seen there before. I dont go there that often. I was surprised he let me take any. Had i not needed the dirt i wouldve tried to grab more of course.

What a waste of good wood. The transfer station here only has branches....I guess too many hoarders :). Great score!

So much wood, so little time.

Your dump must let the tree services dump for cheap money. I think at my dump they raised the price at the scale, now it's all brush. It was nice while it lasted, at least I'm fully hoarded now.

Good idea with the Dunkin’ Donuts card. Different towns are different with how they look at taking away wood. Luckily for me, the 2 I have closest to me are fine with it. I think bringing my dogs with me in the truck earns me some points!

Judging by the amount of rounds id say your right. The front half is where homeowners dump brush, the back half has all the better wood. How recently did they do that Midwinter ? I know how much you love scrounging at your dump.

I suspect that the price went up around the first of the year. Pickings were bad compared to last winter, and it didn't improve much in the spring. I still go every day, it's a good place to score 2x4s and granite countertop cutoffs. So I keep my eye on things.
