Me and mom's boyfriend were planning to start my roof early, tomorrow. I was going to go to town bright (dark?) And early to get him tomorrow morning. Then dad says he's coming home tonight. Great, 3 pairs of hands. But his girlfriend is coming with. I'm going to town for the night now, I'll never get enough sleep to be useful or fit to drive with her here.....she won't be helping with no roof, a grain of sand might come off an old shingle and fall on her or something, never mind dealing with roofing gum.

Mom's boyfriend has the keys borrowed to his cousins cabin a half hour or so away, that makes it easier for him to help a few days in a row. mom would have liked to come for at least one day, but she's pretty much limited to that before having to go home with her cats :/

I have a hard time following everyone stuff for a while now but hope good things for ya. Today is a nice day. I been getting ready to burn my brush pile and got the permit this morning. Its free so that's always nice. Got 6 hurs sleep so that's better than 4. LOL.. As far as jury duty I just tell them Im nuts. :) Talked to my brother today and he is coming over next week with more firewood. I told him to wait until I get the first 4 cord paid for and he said I told you Im not worried about it and I told you that. He will get it from me like he always has. He told me he is selling all his firewood equipment and taking care of loose ends. I no what that means but I let him decided what we are going to talk about. Hope you all are having a great day. I try to make the best of every one. Got my camper set up in the yard so Barbara and I can cook outside and have supper in it. She like that and so do I. Sorry my post is all over the place.

You had to get a Permit? Well, at least it was free.

Most states here in the US you have to get a permit. It's so they know where fires are. So when plane is up they don't think a brush pile is a woods fire or so that they can deny you a permit if it's a bad fire day.

Many people burn yard debris and piles without one though me included:whistle:. It's the smart and legal thing to get one. Can save you money if the fire gets out. They will usually bill you if it's unpermitted but with a permit and you were doing everything thing right you don't get the bill for the tractor when it comes out to plow it out.

That's fair enough. However, needing a permit for stuff like simple renovations that pose no real danger with a grain of common sense.....no Bueno.

I guess that's why I just took the time to haul brush to the dump until I had to take my truck off the road and now I box and bag it for trash collection. Rather not take chances. I'd like a chipper to make disposal easier....

Here in Hicksville there are certain times of year when we have “burning bans”. No fires then. We don’t need permits but we are required to put up a sign that reads “open burn”. When I put in my driveway I lit a pile of green brush the size of Mt. Rushmore. Everybody in the county called the police and fire department. It was during a burn ban and we were having a severe drought. The local fire department came and put it out. They were friends of mine and it cost me a case of beer later because they had to wear full garb in 100 degree heat. My excuse: “ a spark came out of the muffler of the loader”. Got away with it and it didn’t cost me any money.

I got about a acre and a half of swamp. The only day it dries out enough to burn it off is the day before they put the Fire bans in effect. My Town Fire Marshal you just call him and tell him you're having a fire and he says okay. Just so if somebody calls and says there's a fire here they already know about it.
Last time I burnt the swamp was the day before fire ban. A young kid, on fire department and his four-wheel drive pickup came down my driveway and instead of parking on the driveway. He decided to drive the truck into the swamp. :rofl:

Buried it to the frame, got asked if I was going to pay to have it towed out.. I told him nah I figure if you're not smart enough to see the four-wheel drive Kubota tractor on the driveway. If you pay to remove the truck a few times you might figure out you shouldnt go mudding without a winch:whistle:

So the P O here did not repair this missing piece of molding before closing. 3 baby squirrels hatched. They are venturing out, so in a few days I'll get a rag of ammonia and place it in there.

Been a busy week, but glad it's over! Wife and I just went for an evening cruise on the boat.

Not sure if I want to relax, or go downstairs and work on the mower.

TrinitySouth99 , regarding building permits, if you saw some of the assbackwards and dangerous things some people do, you'd know why building permits are required here.

Or either get a can of spray foam and shoot up in there.
