What a difference a day makes. It was 85 and humid yesterday here in Southern CT. Our first real Summer feeling day. Last evening the front went through, some good showers then it cooled off nicely. Today bright sun, amazing blue sky and a good breeze, around 70. A top ten day in my book. After yesterday i regretted not going to the honey hole more when it was cooler and not looking forward to going when its hot & humid. Probably not having time the next several days i went today and bucked a load. All red oak again and getting too heavy. Starting to make a dent in the pile. Next time i have an epic score i want all balsa wood! LOL!!!
Wow, you’re doing great! Next up your going to need an Advil score with all the work you’re putting in.
i just recently started taking a scrip for 800mg ibuprofen up to 3 times daily. I take in AM and PM only. Doesnt help with back pain although its been feeling pretty good the last few days Ctwoodtick Wont use heating pad in warm weather either.
I have been using the LogOx in last couple years and really love it. I messed up my back royally a while ago and this thing allows me to pick up rounds with out dealing with that initial bend way down to the ground and then hoisting up wood up ( which put a lot of the pressure on the lower back). It’s a bit pricey but I have gotten a lot of use out of it. I’ll bring it with me when I come out to see you in June.
Careful with that much ibuprofen. You’ll wreck your liver with prolonged use Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice work buZZsaw BRAD ! you're really getting it done there. I wish the sun would shine here. Been cloudy & damp weather almost non stop this spring. Got rained on three times Sunday afternoon trying to split.
I got a TSC peavey with the log lift T attachment on it for Xmas. I forgot it today along with my toolbox. Had run back home to get it. Luckily 5 minutes away. Did use it briefly today and a couple times prior at the HH.
Oh yes, plenty of Red Oak with some White mixed in. My comment was more about how nice that load looks. Take a break when your body tells you to, plenty of wood out there.
I need the coordinates to that HH...you saw we barely have any wood.... My back would be killing me if I picked up rounds that big. Do you have a ramp board? Halve or quarter those rounds...back blowout or hernia and you won't be cutting for awhile....guess how I know...
If you lived closer id gladly share the wood. I have back issues T.Jeff Veal MRI 3 weeks ago showed two partly herniated, three bulging discs in lower back. Seeing Yale orthapedist on Tuesday...finally. Hurt it back in mid January and hasnt subsided much. Back pain is my new normal. Good friend of mine gave me his extra back brace, which is my main piece of safety equipment now. Good quality one he got from his chiropractor. The 28" rounds i quartered up top right on the pile. The 18" rounds i managed to get to the ground then halved. The 12" ones i cut to fill out the load. They split very easily with the X27. Still very heavy to load. I use proper lifting technique for the most part
Liver or stomach! That stuff is really hard on the stomach. Many times people taking it have to also take something for their stomach. Hum...
Brad, do you use long tongs of any sort for lifting? I have 2 of the fiskars for lifting big rounds and they are great, when I get more free spending cash from my Bride (lol) I might look into the Log Ox, everyone on this forum seems to like it and I think they give FHC members a bit of a discount for a purchase? Last thing I want is a blown back...
Love the pics. The truck must be holding up nice. Is that about 1/2 cord per load? Agree, temps now suck unless u buck and load at night. Why not buck at night with the truck lights helping? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
