Great work there Midwinter for some primo mulberry! Hard work and a bit of a drive, but nice to see you at it full throttle. We have been washed out for the last 2 days and this has been the case for three weeks now. At least the Gods gave us a sunny dry Mothers day.

Thanks, I was glad to get it, as the dump has been very lame lately. I was surprised no one else showed up to take any mulberry. It was one of those listings that had the address posted, don't email, just come.

Yes, he didn't post it until 7P Sunday. They guy I talked to was a neighbor, who lent him a third party's saw. The owner spent all weekend with a ladder, pruners, and the saw working on it.

Nice work there, Midwinter is THE QUEEN of car hoarding. She even has a metal plaque to prove it. Maybe she will show it off. Super nice lady and friend we met at the GTG in Michigan.

Yes, I'm finding that we are in that weird period where firewood is not so in demand as the burning season has wound down. Believe it or not I have had a fire yesterday and I'm heating with my stove now, but not burning through the night, just one load after work seems to be doing the trick. I have even seen some ads where people are giving away their unused seasoned firewood! Mostly face cords, but they've all been too far from my house to bother with. I don't think this "off season" for firewood lasts more than a month or two before the scroungers are out looking and it gets competitive again. This is a great time to scrounge and CSS to get the full summer of seasoning weather working for ya!

Load three. It was all still there. Some guy in a truck came last night and looked at it, said he'd come back later, ha ha... IMG_20190515_48687.jpg
I'll go back again, maybe twice. There's a pile of chunked up limbs on the neighboring property that was offered to me, they said they they hadn't seen the skunk that was living in there for awhile.

Last load. While I was gone, someone came and took most of the long brush pile, that's cool. I took the limbs I was offered, no skunk action, so I'm done there. IMG_20190515_7173.jpg

Nice score. I love mulberry. Be wary of the “church people”. They start out offering wood then you disappear.

I'll do that. They'll turn a nice dark red color.

Pour some water on one to see what they might look like.

Any idea what this is? It felt pretty dense at least compared to the yellow poplar I been hauling, but split not so bad. My guess is Chinese elm or maybe a type of oak. (Not the silver maple in back... I didn’t mess with the branches)
