Father's Day came early

Looks like Father's Day came a few weeks early, I think Chaz was a bad influence...

Maybe I'll be a little safer now.

 

Thats a very nice father's day gift indeed. Not a chance of you being mistaken for a turkey in the woods now

 

I picked up a pair and like them a lot. Though these are the first chaps I’ve ever had.

 

And tongs too! Great gifts!

 

Are you sure that Chaz didn't take that pic. Lol. Looks exactly like what he got last week. Including tongs.

Didn't Chaz get the whole kit with helmet glasses and chaps? I ordered only chaps and tongs...he posted the link from Amazon on here...you know how it goes, monkey see, monkey do...

 

Came today while we were gone, tried them out this evening...allows me to wear cooler clothes and keeps most chips out my boots. They are a little hot, but not bad...
I don't think cutting season ever stops down here for long, trying to get all our sheds full, making room for more trees that we have been given to bring home.

 

Yes sir......my safety inspector (hunny, Miz Carol) said she better see them on me anytime I pick up the saw...

 

Ive considered getting a pair myself, but my "complaint" would be the comfort and mobility factor. Do they get in the way when nature calls? Which in my case is a lot in the cold weather!
I started wearing ear plugs (the little foam ones) back in January and still cant get used to them.
Nothing more annoying than sawdust down the boot T.Jeff Veal My first cut on Sunday at my HH, my left pant leg was above the boot rim and a good batch of sawdust gets in! Good excuse to take a break, pull off boot and sock to get it out.
Speaking of safety equipment, do they make chain saw/logger shin guards? My shins take a beating with cuts and bruises from rounds and splits.

 

Haven't seen any shin guards like that, soccer shin guards would probably work fine. I don't think the chaps would be in the way when nature calls. Pretty easy to take off for #2, open on front for #1. Didn't slow me down cutting today. Got all but 4 logs from a dump trailer load bucked and stacked next to the splitter. Please get some type of hearing protection, plugs or muffs. Hearing aids aren't cheap.

 

I prefer earmuffs to earplugs. Feels like plugs make my inner ear sweaty. I am not sure but I think I remember a thread some time ago about shin guards. Nothing worse than getting nailed in the shin from a round rolling off the pile or a dropped split. Glad to see PPE being given as gifts.
