Tree services chip everything all vines poison ivy oak etc most trees being taken down in residential areas are dead or have some disease so you definately want to let the chips heat up before putting them around your trees /shrubs the heat kills some of the diseases another thing to keep in mind so you are not surprised is when tree companies are working along roads or in yards the portable toilet is the chip truck o_O so watch where you stick your hands:jaw:   but if you let it go through its heat cycle and turn it over until the chips darken up you wont even know enjoy the free mulch JB

I have a pile of chips that I let sit and turn over once or twice a year with my tractor bucket. It's pretty much dirt at this point. Been at least five years, maybe more.

I thought I looked into this and you had to agree to take mulch and maybe, and I quote “maybe” logs so that poo poo’d the idea. If u can select only logs, I’d be in.

    I don’t want the mulch.

I've said this before and I'll probably say it again: tree service guys like beer. A case of beer goes a long way to getting logs from said tree services. Just don't expect them to be anything but random lengths.

This chip drop is "neat" but the old fashioned pick up the phone and call a tree service works too. Or just talk to the knuckle dragger on the jobsite. We might surprise you and be nice.

You can sign up for just logs. I can’t vouch for it, but you can exclude species by text and say “just hardwood please” or ‘12” rounds’, nobody might come for you unless you crank up your ”donation”. I’m set for the next year, but may give it a shot late winter or spring.

Around here, burying the sidewalk like that would get you a "nice" visit with the city inspector...

I had the sidewalk cleared within a couple hours. The dropping company was concerned about that too, but fortunately it worked out with our schedule. It was pine, but for mulch certainly, pine is fine. For logs too though, I feel like pine has a worse reputation for firewood than it deserves. If it is free or $20 a load.. it’s not like i’m trying to sell it. I get that low but takes up more space, but it is also easier to carry in a sling when it is go time. The cherry I cut down will be nice to mix in and for grilling, but it took some time to drop it and bring it back home even though it was only a couple blocks away. Practically free delivery is hard to beat.
