Oh yeah the dogs get on the couch, William likes watching the fish from the couch. He leaves smudges on the glass. The tank stays clean because of the sump, skimmer, and the macroalgae outcompeting any bad algae. So far at least, that's how I planned it. No, no firefish. She gone. Certainly. I have not seen her in days.
One would think it would end up floating. Nope. I think she was abducted. Lol Now she did like to his in the holes in the Rick, like gobies do. So my guess is that she's in a rock. There's nothing in the t tank that would take care of the carcass aside from bacteria. I need to rectify that.
I got my first live coral on Sunday. A blastomussa merletti. It's just a frag, but I didn't want to buy a colony and not know if it would live or not. It's opening up nicely, and I fed it last night.
There was a bit on the news the other night about problems in a home with live coral and bacteria poisoning. I didn't get it all but it made me wonder about the salt water coral tanks. Did you hear anything about it?
Haven't heard of that. Now there can be weird reactions to corals if you put your hands on the tank a bit. I try to keep the hands out. That approach is best for the tank and for people.
Here's a decent picture of the blastomussa merletti coral frag I picked up last week. It's doing very well. It's got 2 heads, and it's been opening up very nicely. I think I'll pick up some more corals this weekend.
I'll have to update this thread. I bought some corals tonight from a local reefer. I have also brought some over the last few weeks. Stay tuned...
Oh boy. It grows in people's houses, but it's not plants. Also probably not a good idea to smoke it. What's funny is the the lights that people grow coral with are also used to grow marijuana, and the chemicals we use to dose the tanks have been confused for what people use to make meth or other home grown drugs. There's been a few police "door knock downs" over the years reported by saltwater reef tank keepers around the world.
Stole muh thunder man...I was gonna say be careful...gotta watch out for da po-po when dealing with the local reefer...
