Nothing here gives me any concerns... Wth this said, I assume Emma is running the show and not you...
She isn't around anymore Fan and was just having to deal with those 2 limbs as I got big trucks coming In this week.
I'm so sorry to hear about Emma... Then I would be very careful, as we all know she had true skills with firewood processing....
nothing really. Dont stand on the top two steps. As long as the trailer isnt shaky either. I have to use a 14' stepladder tomorrow to do a pruning job. Be safe
The picture was set up gang as I did use what you see but moved it closer to the end and did 4 foot sections with the top one. So no big deal. Seen a whack of the vids.
I went into a tree with a ladder and chainsaw just once. No harm no foul but I’ll never do it again. I have enough equipment now to easily pull a tree in any direction I want. And that will be the only option no matter how pretty she is and no matter how much she wants just the rotten top cut out. LOL It’s all or nothing.
I’ll admit that i’ve only ever limbed a tree that was about shoulder height to the limbs, but I don’t know that a notch would have saved him. Wasn’t it the limb hanging up on the ground that brought it back on him? Or would a notch have cause it to release easier and fall more parallel w the ground?
I may have seen someone trimming some limbs at my place while standing on pallet forks (good pallet as a platform) as recently as last week! Of course it was to take out a limb (thorny locust) so I could safely drop several trees in a fence row. Only other option was drop the tree in the middle of the state highway! Like others have said for me it’s usually all or non rare to do any trimming other than what gets in the way of mowing.
If you watch closely, the limb begins to fall, but is still attached. A notch or even a simple kerf in the bottom of the limb would have helped what you described in the end of your post- falling parallel.
