Splitting some of the oak that was taken down at the GTG. Dang those things are heavy! Good. That means lots of btu. My body forced me to take a break or two but at least I got some of it done. Hope to work on more tomorrow and even move some of it to our place. A whopping 1/4 mile trip through the woods.
And I was surprised. As I hooked onto the splitter to head back, the sun came out so it was nice working back there. There is just something about working in the woods alone. I love it.
Believe it or not I forgot the milk crate I usually sit on. Not a problem though. Just sat on one of the blocks.
Great-looking splits Dennis. I'm glad I got to help with that tree at the GTG. Yes, working alone in the woods is good for the soul.
Personally I love being in the woods and don't have to be working alone. I even like it when I am with some one who can keep their flap trap shut for more than 10 minutes. I also admire your loving your wood so much you fondle it so much. Nice splits to handle once again to haul home and then handle again unloading (into a stack?). I am just to lazy to be doing that much work. Now me I would have split it into the Bota bucket then took a break when the bucket was full to take home and dump the bucket into a pile. Or placed it in the trailer or bucket then split at home. Al
Doesn't get much heavier than white oak in your area Dennis. What a fun tree to work on. Very peaceful back there by the love...er sugar shack.
Interesting cycle of life that tree had. Stood proud for over a hundred years. In 4ish hours a crew totally decimated it akin to locusts on a field.
Yeah I can't say I have ever seen such a large tree go from standing to a pile of blocks and rounds in such a short time!
