It was cool this morning so I figured I would go get some wood. I haven’t cut in a few weeks so it was nice getting a trailer load.
Thanks, these sized rounds are definitely a little easier to handle. Plus I will only have to split them in half
a lot of guys on here like the bigger rounds The Muzzy as they make more splits. Im still undecided as i have no way other than brute force to work them!
I have personally never burned any before. I have some in my stacks seasoning that will be ready in a few years.
I have a hydraulic splitter so I don’t mind the big rounds, I just roll them onto my trailer. Yesterday’s load was nice not being big rounds because I couldn’t park too close to where I was cutting and had to use the wheel barrow.
Anything over 24" gets to be real work. Big ones make a lotta splits, but smaller rounds make firewood faster. Nice looking haul The Muzzy !!!!
Not so much cutting them The Muzzy , my 460 does pretty good zipping thru them. Just moving, quartering and loading them is the tough part. Mebbe im just getting old as i see ive got a few years on you! Im 51
take care of your back cigarsmokingzombie . Get a good brace and use proper lifting technique...legs etc. My MRI from last week shows 2 partly herniated discs and 3 bulging in my lower back. Im so used to lifting heavy stuff, it doesnt seem to phase me. I get rather manic too when loading wood so i forget. Good friend of mine gave me one of his back braces last week and ive been using it. Helps stiffen the back and provide some relief, but im afraid to hear what the orthapedist tells me at the end of the month when i see him for the first time. I guess ive always had this "invincibility" feeling, or "it wont happen to me" type of attitude. I dont want to sound preachy or tell you what to do, but i know you recently did something to your back as well. I guess we're not spring chickens anymore!
Yeah I get that, plus you load your pick up truck quite full. That’s a lot of climbing in and out of the truck bed too which can be tough.
Ugh, I know u r right but there is nothing better than the feeling of throwing a 2.5’ round into a truck. My loading buddies are like have at it. My back is getting more sore now than before. The hutch I moved a few weeks back scared me and reality set in. I do practice good lifting techniques though. When I can’t lift, my hoarding life is over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
