Oh Dear, I cannot hold back the belly laughs. Pete was that thunder or the sound of giant raindrops on your truck?

Got a mini ex and dump truck full of gravel coming out to the house in a couple weeks for the driveway and make the front garden larger ww as I am gonna plant 6 some kind of Christmas trees? Went to the big box stores and mostly those thin cedars or small pines that they want $180 for.;)
There was a crew from outta town planting 10 footers for the city by the water plant so went over and asked the one fella where do they get them and how much for me to buy? He laughed and handed me the plastic wrap off one and I just about chit as they are $613 each.:hair::rofl:  Think ill stick with the smaller ones.:coldone:

Judo points are used here for turkey. When they hit the grass they actually stand up before falling to the ground so you can see where they hit.

Hey Loon, there are "conservation districts" here, offer native species for an excellent price. Not sure where your at but I googled Canada and found something that looks similar. The ones I bought at the old house in 98' thrived, bought again here last year (we'll see how many made it, very dry here), they are not trees like the ones near the water plant, rather like 12-18" high, but a great price and they only sell trees growing and grow well in your area. There's a "tree farm" between my childhood city and previous home, the prices on trees there make my jaw drop, $$$$$

Yeah our county ag extention office sells trees every year for a dollar or so each...just saplings but I planted 10 poplar trees probably 15 years ago, those are 50-60' tall now...the white pine came a few years later, some of them might be 25' tall, then some red oak maybe 10 years ago, those go 10' high now I'd say...have maybe $50 in all of it...that's 30 trees total. Just depends on how big of a hurry you are in I guess...

Thanks ww but it looks like I am a month late? Its too bad as I have access to hundreds of them at the far end of the farm but when my Buddy passed away last year his son took the tractor from the farm and now its broke more often than not as he drives the crap outta it.:zip: There are a few of them here on the property that I transplanted and are doing very well. Will take a week for the mini ex to get there from where he would be able to unload it and it takes along time for me to dig em up by hand shovel so that aint gonna happen.
Funny part about this is when his mom was away in Texas for a month there were people In and out all night on the farm but lights lit our house up coming out of the driveway and doing what I'm doing with the trees cause of him and his buddies from down the road:confused:
Could just close the big drapes at dark but why should I have to? ;)

Once she leaves the property brenn its gonna be a gong show over there with a couple of her kids being greedy so thinking instant coverage would be best. Priced a 40ft cedar fence which i really don't want to do as she is pretty much the nicest person I've known in my dragged out life and don't want to block her off totally.
Cedar fence that I got quoted with was almost a grand at Lowes and that changed my little mind instantly.:coldone:

Wow that's a warm winter day here.

It was mid 80s here . Had plenty of days in upper 80s so far. Think we hit 90 a time or two this year.

We have a slight delay on closing, but we have more time to move today and throughout the weekend. It is a hurry up and wait thing with some tense moments. It will all be fine. I hope it is not too rainy today.

Edit: weather radar shows the rain skirting north of us.

Yes, that is the good part of judo points that the stick up. They will do some of that in dirt but the looser the dirt the lesser the action. Still, they will stop.

Can't imagine hunting turkeys with them though. That's the first time I've heard that.
