Yes, bad day at the hoard. Seized my 372xpw. It was giving me some problems, but now its done. Will pull it down today and see what the problem is. Hopefully only the top end, but will still need to see what the underlying problem was that caused it.

Then pulled out my Echo 750. It was running great and developed a big fuel leak. Need to pull it down to see what going on there. That is why I coudn't finish. I have a bunch of large rounds that I need to noodle as they are too heavy to move to the splitter.

As it turned out, the 372 wasn't seized. it had a bolt that came loose behind the flywheel and was rubbing on it. Got her fixed and ready to cut again. Might try and run down there this next week and finish that one part.

I had the same thing happen :picard:.
I had just shut it down and it made an odd sound, so I went to fire it back up and it wouldn't turn over , then I noticed something was loose, shook it around a bit and I could hear something wasn't right. Ended up the cylinder bolt dropped between the fins on the flywheel and busted a few of them out and then it lodged itself between the flywheel and the chassis "seizing" it up. New flywheel and replacing the bolt and all was good.
Glad yours is fine too :saw:.

Sounds like owners of this saw would do well to hit those bolts with some loctite before they come loose. Glad both of ya were able to diagnose and repair without big money expense!

The rest of the bolts were just fine. I'm sure this saw has been apart in the past.

So I made two loads from the hoard today. I got done what I promised I would, but don't think I'm going back for the rest of it. It's just too much work with that big stuff. The rest of it is a bit smaller in diameter, but it's going to be harder to get to. The sad part is tat if no one goes over and gets it, they will just push it into a pile and burn it come Fall. He is a pic of the second load I brought home today. Really sort of running out of room right now until I can finish splitting and stacking what I have.

On another note, I was offered an even better deal from the same guys. They are nut and prune farmers, and just bought 40 acres of Almonds that they are going to tear out starting in late September. They asked me if I would be interested in any of it. They are going to push over all of the trees and said I could come get what I want!!! Thinking if that does happen, I may just cut out the trunks in logs and bring them home that way if I can get my buddy to bring his tractor down with the log loader on it. Depending on tree size, might be able to get some lumber out of it. Would need to get an Alaskan mill or something like that, but it would be worth it. So, possible Almond hoard coming in the future.

A friend of a friend of mine bought some land to put two houses on and sell. He had a lot of nice lumber quality trees and some time so he bought a Woodland Mills bandsaw, cut up all the trees worth cutting up and then sold the bandsaw. I didn't find out about the bandsaw for sale until he had just gotten a bid on it.

That's how mine were too, but I did go through and check them all. Mine is an xpw cylinder on an xtorq chassis so I'm pretty sure mine was also apart before lol. Fun saws for sure and I like them over a 460/461 for handling.

I really like the saw too it's just been one thing after another with it. Now I'm having a no spark/weak spark problem with it.

Is it shutting off after running great for a bit, then after cooling down it will run great for a little bit but for a little less time. If so that's how a bad coil acts, if the switch has issues it will be more inconsistent. You can remove the wire from the switch to isolate the coil, if it runs fine with the wire off the switch then the switch needs to be replaced, to shut it off when the wire is disconnected you will need to stall the saw by choking it. Or just pull the spark plug wire  .
The coil on a 372 is shared with many other saws, an unlimited coil or a higher rpm rated coil will work great. The unlimited coils are the easiest for tuning the saw. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you need any help with it, or start a thread. If you just want to dump that thing I'd be interested .

I have a coil coming for it. The switch seems to test good, but now I have no spark at all. Probably going to keep it. They are getting hard to find out here, and I really like the saw. Plus I have a bunch of spars for it, just not a coil at this time.

Sounds good, hopefully that will take care of it. I know what you mean, I have a sweet spot for them myself, I probably don't "need" another anyway, but heck if someone wants to get give one up I don't normally refuse :).
Let us know if that takes care of it, or what you find wrong.

I think I'm done with that oak score. That stuff nearly killed me. Though I know it's still sitting down there, it may be to much for me to think about, and have to go get some more. There is some stuff there that is a bit smaller (22"-24") that I may go get. After I get this stuff here finished split and stacked, I'll see what room I have.

Big rounds are a lot of work, If I would have known how to noodle them when I first started it would have saved me a lot of grief, and a very sore back :emb:.
