I understand buZZsaw BRAD, we all gotta play the hand we are delt. And looks like you’re doing a great job of it! & yes, joining here has been a huge motivator. I believe we joined pretty close the same time. It’s also made me a bit envious, seems some members have more suitable hardwood trees for firewood on their own land or acreage than there is in the whole county I live in.
Im amazed at the "elbow room" you folks in the midwest have. Bring in a load and dump. Being from a small state with heavy residential, its not that common in my area. How big is the county and what percentage is wooded?
I’ll try to get some pictures today. It’s not uncommon to be on a hill and not have a tree in sight for miles except an occasional cedar that was planted by a grouse or some other birds. And before the area was settled wildfires kept them in check. And actually according to old timers the tops of the hills were bare sand. Google Nebraska Sandhills and you will wonder how I ever find a stick to burn
Hey Brad, most of the trees are still on the property of the lady. We had some very hot weeks over here and I had a new project started at work (I'm an automotive consultant) so I had no time at all to go CSS the rest. Soon, soon...
Thanks guys, been pounding away at the pile all day today, seems like it’s never ending lol... it’s back to work for me tomorrow so wood splitting will be a weekend thing for me until November... first pics are what I got done... started first of April, next pics are what I got left... and the final pics are a monster hard maple I cut last year.. iv been hiding from it but I got to get it done before snow flies... last pic is of my dad... he’s 6 foot 7. The pics got mess up but you guys will figure it out
That split pile is 12-14 foot tall.. lol it’s next to the road... you should see the people stop at look.... I told my wife that one of these days a car passing is going to go off the road rubber necking and end up in my spliter lol
Selling some timber on the property tomorrow, bids go out and the mills got 2 weeks to respond... and a year to cut it... 70 cherry got cut in 2008.... and sold on the landing.... this time around went through a forester.... they will be sold on the stump... 190 trees are marked.... so the fransguard winch will have some tops to pull in the future
Welcome aboard bulldozerjoe and howdy neighbor. Me n my wife Chazsbetterhalf live in Hinsdale, just off of exit 27. Great site with great people here
I paved almost all the streets in hinsdale probably 5 years ago... parked the equipment at the fire hall... also go to the fur auction
Cool Live about .75 miles from fire station, and can see the town building from my front yard. If you do any of the repair work if they ever get to put the new gas pipeline in, you'll have to stop by.
