In the thread “coming soon to a wood shed near me”,Stlshrk and myself posted pictures of our recently acquired 372xps. In that thread Fifelaker stated that they are one of Husqvarna’s “iconic” saws. What other husky's do you other members think fall into that category. 266xp, maybe? I’ve also saw alot of good things about the smaller 346xp on the interweb, does it make the cut? Just wondering what I need to keep my eyes open for now that I have an acute case of CAD.

254's are hard to find but have an iconic status.

Yes alot of the 2 series Husqvarna chainsaws are some of the best! The 254, 262,266,268,272 and 281-288. There are other 2 series huskies, but those listed above are my favorites. IMG_20190430_204139721.jpg

Is that a 266se? We have one of those at the shop where I work. Pretty awesome saw when you can get it running. I plan to give it some TLC this winter, I know it needs an impulse gasket & few other things. It belonged to the old boy that used to own the place. He is the one that sparked my interest in saws. But you people have fanned the spark into a raging inferno

Yes that's a 266se. It's my favorite saw and I plan to buy another one sometime. There are still alot of parts available for older Husqvarna saws.

    346, 288 for sure.
The one that I think of as under stated but likely the best utility all around saw is a 357xp and/or the 359

Another vote for 61 268 272. So simple under the hood. And I'd say the 55 has some iconicness going on.

A couple of nights ago I saw a new never been run husqvarna 272xp for sale locally for $500 Canadian. It was very tempting, and I looked the next night and it was sold, it didn't last long. Should have went for it, as all the saws I have are in the 50cc class.

Not sure what that is in U.S. dollars but that would have been really hard for me to let slip away

Yes, I am not shure when they quit making the 272xp, it was probably 20+ years old, but it was still new in the box.

The 55 you mentioned is that a rancher? Or did they make a 55 without the rancher name also. I just passed on one at a flea market. Can’t remember exactly what he wanted for it some where around $150 maybe $165, it was a rancher

Mine all say Rancher. But I think it's more a marketing term than model designation. They did make 55s w/o rancher name on recoil. Different top ends are available. 46mm open port. 45mm closed port. And I think Hyway now has 46mm closed port.

Maybe too new to be in the running but personally my 550xp fits the bill. I really appreciate how easy it starts every time all the time. Not a bad temperament in its bones. My go to saw. Doesn’t hurt that it has a good power to weight ratio either.

372 has been produced since 1999. That's a two decade run...any others that have been produced that long?

you have no idea how much trouble i would've went through to get that saw lol
    Year's ago i made a deal to buy a nos 288 lite
Never fired had the husky tag tied to the wrap.
    He was asking 400.00
I drove to his house and he wouldn't accept a check.
So i told him I'll give you 500.00
When i get back from the bank
We shook hands and he agreed.
And he sold it before i returned
Thoughts of violence went through my head lol
