Now that the end of the burn season has arrived for many of you, it will be an accurate accounting of the amount of wood you used during the 18-19 season.

Myself, I still have the OWB in operation and hope to probably into the middle of May (typical) but the outdoor temps will dictate the final shutdown date.

Having said that, yesterday afternoon I spent a little time in the OWB area....with a spring cleanup rake! I figure the amount burned for me this year is...…….

    right around 8 cord.

    How about you?

Been running the furnace more this year, so firewood use is a bit less than 1/2.......this was my master plan that actually worked the way I,uh, planned. Anyway, pretty close to 2 1/3 cord so far. I may have a small fire or a few before final shutdown, but I'm pretty much done.
Mid-May is our normal end of season too.

It was a strange season here, rarely got bitter cold but stayed cold and damp all season. Only needed the second stove twice. That said, to keep the house comfortable the main stove was burned pretty hard for a longer period than usual. Normally I am just around 4 cords a season, this year I am a little over 5. Most seasons, by the end of April, I've done the spring cleanup but I am still burning evening fires, hopefully not for much longer.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still have a fire at the cottage on the weekends/mornings/evenings sort of thing.

Its just that when the OWB gets the fires pulled, heating season is over! And that'll be in a matter of days...…..

Just looked at the very extended forecast (30 days) and the overnights are no higher than the 30's and 40's!

A little more than last year, but didn't keep good track of what we started with and what we used. Oak is almost gone and had almost two cord to start. Have not quite a cord of red maple left and started with two. Used more pine than ever - over a cord, but that goes fast.

We used 1-1/2 cord. It was an even split between masonry fireplace and turbo burner (soon to be replaced) Pot-Belly.

Still have the OWB running, I'll keep running it until I am out of this season's wood. I think I am at about 10 cords since September 1, maybe a bit less. I still have a brief pool heating season, and the house still needs heat on cold nights, but I hope to shut down this summer as I am having a heat pump system installed for DHW.

    Well, that didn't take long.
Lit a fire a while ago. Cloudy, cool, with a chance of rain and snow.
    Still at 2 1//3 cord.

5 cord for the house. Maybe 1 for the garage. Probably be right around 8 by mid June.

9 to 10 full cords this year. The weather guy said the last eight months have been below normal temps for this area and I surely believe him.
7 or 8 would be more normal for here and I'm still not done burning yet.
Winter and cold just suck, there's no two ways about it.
