I did some more splitting this weekend
Managed to get stuck , but with the winch and pulley I had rigged up I was able to pull myself back and get out . IMG_20140518_142919713.jpg IMG_20140518_142208931.jpg image.jpg IMG_20140518_145705779.jpg

Awesome piece of equipment you've built there. That has to be the woodcutter's dream machine. Enjoy it!

Is the crane all manual? I assume you use that extra block to skid the round right next to the splitter and then go straight up with it? I.e. the load on the trailer is either horizontal or vertical but not both simultaneously? Looks like the perfect system for dealing with a pile of big rounds dumped next to the splitter (my SOP).

The crane is manual side to side and the boom is fixed in a number of heights with a pin. The I use the winch to raise and lower the book to any height. The winch does all the heavy lifting of rounds. In the pics I did not lower the boom before pulling threw the block, when lowered it rest on the push plate and takes most of the stress off the boom.
