Finally got to one of 2 remaining big ash trees left on my place. Used the 661 with a 32" bar and full skip chain. There was only 1/4 to 1/2 inch of bar tip showing at the widest point of the cut. I guess that would make the tree about 28 to 29 inches in diameter at the cut.

The top was really punky but the rest of the tree is still solid. I should have taken it down a year ago but sometimes life gets in the way of fun.

The second tree will have to wait until fall, it's getting too hot to to mess with these big guys.

32" with a full skip chain. There was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the tip of the bar showing at the widest point of the tree. Now that I've got that one down I'll switch back to a 25" with a full comp chain.

Nice, that will be a good amount of firewood from that ash tree. I have a 28” bar for my 661.

Nice looking wood and fell Ralphie Boy ! I bet the 660 made very short work of it. I hear you about it getting hot. Not hot here yet but temps getting warmer every day. My desire to make firewood goes down as it gets warmer.:dennis:

I hauled some ash home tonight that I cut this evening. The log was about 24" across at the butt end. I do not like cutting in heat either but just tettering on it now. About right with a long sleeve shirt on. Told the farmer I was almost done until fall. Anything else comes down in the hayfield just push it into the woods.
