Pay dental and vision out of pocket.

The ACA, really any of these new HDHP medical plans are really for the catastrophic stuff. Most issues (broken leg) will be under the deductible. Get cancer, yeah, that's when you would be happy to pay a 9000$ deductible instead of millions. It's so bad that I tend to avoid the doctor now for small stuff which may have actually been the purpose.

Over the last years I've spent hours/days looking for, calling, researching for an alternative to going broke for health insurance. Current mission is to claim the measly $170 yearly exam for kiddo that is not being paid for.

Only ONE marketplace carrier in WY = BCBS. Vision provider under BCBS is Davis Vision. Call either of them, "yes one exam per year is covered". Call the eye place, "you owe us $170", all that time wasted going back and forth with extended time holds to get to a live person again and again in a circle, same outcome. Trick is BCBS uses Davis Vision. Every Single Solitary eye place has dropped Davis Vision. Only one mistakenly listed is Walmart Vision, they don't even have a doctor here. End result is all the eye places here bill under BCBS "medical", well unless we have something bad happen and meet our $15,000 deductible it will not be covered. Currently waiting for a new bill from her last eye appt to split out exam and the refractory (not covered), recoded to exam plus refractory separately to submit myself.

But, there might be more, could be good news!

Thank you for letting me rant to get to the main point, we might have a mistake in our coverage. No going back over the last 5 years but it could save us $1,000/month Jan 2020, hopefully earlier.

    IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!
We fell through the cracks with both the corporate & personal tax accountant, and again with insurance agent that signed us up, and why after all my calls with Blue Cross Blue Shield did not someone help us? The extra $60,000 later, no we cannot recover it, big regret. BIG. Long story short on falling through the cracks was "pass through income" for WWW's work that comes on our personal taxes and when Obamacare was new back in Jan 2014 not many knew how it would work yadda yadda. Next was the insurance company that he signed with, long story short we never got reviewed on renewals. BCBS? Well the customer service sucks, no doubt they did explore, they don't even answer the phone.

I ended up at the State Dept. of Insurance and met an angel in disguise. I was H e ll bent on getting my kiddo's annual preventative eye exam of $170 paid for. The Angel asked me some questions beyond the eye exam. She spent ~3 hours on the phone with on hold at Blue Cross Blue Shield, then the Obamacare Marketplace where she had all 3 of us on the phone together. She did it!! We have special enrollment granted to save $1,000K per month. All said and done I will not be dipping into our savings account every month for health insurance premiums.

    I am so grateful!

Waiting til the fat lady sings, cross your fingers, toes, and say a prayer it all works out please.

    Thanks !! :)

On the edge of my seat until it's official, as it's still "pending". Might be a basket case til then praying for some financial relief. Okay already a basket case, y'all are used to it, just up a few levels.

It's all in process. Obamacare exception granted pending written documentation current obamacare is cancelled. Current BCBS policy cancelled though it takes them a week to send an email documenting the cancellation, and also wanted confirmation that they are in fact on Obamacare. Uh, :picard: Conference call with all 3 documented. IRA should be up and running in a week or two, takes a while to lasso the payroll company.

Wish us luck, (I still have disdain and regret that we were a couple grand over the "subsidy cliff" and paid $60,000 extra over the last 5.5 years for the same flipping policy as others). Better days ahead
