Well the neighbor had a small Hedge tree that fell during the wet heavy snow that we had got back in December or January. I told him I’d take it later on. He told me he wanted all his hedge trees gone. Told I would do it. Well Saturday was the first real decent day that I could go get it ... I called him to let him know I was on my way over to go get it (small on the ground, easy pickings) ... I got the response that he had a guy come and get already... he thought I only wanted to help him... but I told him I wanted the the wood too. So I got these two trees.. but 3 others that I’ll take later... The first is a fairly decent tree but a huge back lean into the neighbors property....with a decent couple of limbs over hanging the fence well into there property...more than I really wanted to do... but up to a challenge... called my buddy... with a truck and four chains. It was safely down on the ground... then took out another smaller hedge, against the fence... then delimbed for the rest of the day.... will be piecing it out as time allows...
Nice job and score Chvymn99 Does hedge ever grow straight or is it the nature of the beast to be heavily branched and crooked?
Really nice, since it’s across the street.... I’m about out of my old stock... really love that stuff in the dead of winter....
Nature of the beast...plus the stuff plays h-e-l-l with a sharp chain... about two tanks of gas... and you’ll be sharpening... if your lucky...
Yes... But I needed to restock my supplies.. ... Its been 5 or 7 years since I've cut some, don't always burn it... But during those cold real days and nights it comes in handy.. plus its very decay resistant...
It was the fence post of choice back in the day when people harvested their own fence posts. Love the yellow wood. Is he getting hedge apples off of the trees? We put them in our basement to keep spiders and mice at bay in the winter. They dry down to nothing with no bad smell.
Yea... the worse part is all the branches.... may go back in later on and cut up some for kindling.... that dry hedge is really good fire starter stuff... Yep, getting ready for the GTG....
Well, at least ya got a nice straight one without too many limbs Chvymn99 . Nice score!!! One of my favorites, love to watch the sparks fly off the chain.
Those trees always seem to spread out and then branch downward. I sometimes mistake them for elm from a distance. Nice score.
