Sweet! No peeping here yet, but definitely some weird sounds coming from the pond from frogs. Shouldn't be long! Might crack a window tonight, it's glorious out!
Had another fire last night, it was rainy and about 40 outside. Maybe another tonight. Not many more fires here, in fact I just picked up the damp rid to go in the stove when I clean it out.
What? No weather/conditions report from the L.P. this morning? C'mon, I know you guys aren't sleeping!
Sun, 42 with a very brisk North wind. WC is 32. Just checked the boiler & put in a few Elm rounds. Burned a fair amount the last few cold rainy days. Supposed to rain to the East of us due to a stalled out low pressure system. Warmer next week they say. I just wish the wind would relax a bit.
Sunnt skies here with temps getting up to the low 70's. I took a brief walk into my woods and saw I need to clear the trails. Seems a few small trees and branches are blocking the path.
You're right, I was awake at 6. Youngest dog was being a butthead last night, so a good nights sleep eluded me even after I took him out (again) at 3:30. Brother and fam are downstate for Easter, so I'm taking care of their dogs for a few days. Early trip over there this AM the Jeep was showing 27 OAT. I got home and started a fire with the resplits I did yesterday (which I had planned to use last night). Should hit 60 or so today and the forecast changed to all sun. There will be splitting happnin' today in that weather.
It's been awhile since I checked in here, but still kicking around. Weather here has been pretty typical/decent. Some warm days, some cool nights but over all nice weather. We should see upwards of +16 c or 60 f ballpark today and just above freezing overnight. We're at that blip the furnace for 15 minutes in the morning and make a small stick kindling fire in late evening season. Probably a 1/2 cubic foot of wood or less a day. If the furnace wasn't a death trap I'd probably call it quits on the fires by now.
First day since mid September that I'm letting the fire die. Haven't even cleaned my cat once. I'm going to have some more coffee then take a picture of it. The AS cat never did get sluggish, even without brushing off.
(Tried to quote Well Seasoned in this too but this if the firs time I could not put both in on one page. Maybe because they were on separate pages?) Anyway, remember that the frogs have to be froze up 6 times.
Strange weather forecasting. Sounds like 50's for yooperdave and 60 for papadave but our forecast says still in the 40's for today. Tomorrow and Monday though should be ideal.
We were wondering what happens to the frogs during the winter! There is a spring where I dug the pond, it's not especially deep, probably 3ft. Hmmm
They don't freeze into a solid block of ice like hard as rock frogcicles, like trees they transform sugars into glucoses that act to protect cells from both dehydrating and keep cells from bursting.
