Sun is trying to come out a bit.

Munchy all set up and plowed through a drum full.
Took care of barn chores and gonna eat BFST and then more MUNCHY TIME.

Going to plow through as much as we can today before the afternoon showers arrive...

We currently have plenty of empty drums, so once we get a shot of decent weather, it's off to get more shells.

With any luck we can start the season with nearly everything we need for next winter...

The weather decided to get nasty.
We were about finished with our 4th barrel and the sky got dark and ugly....we scrambled and got things wrapped up before the worst of it hit.

Heavy rain shower with small hail.

    Arrrrrrrgh.

Was hoping to get far more work done, but oh well..

Mowed for the first time this season - mowed leaves :D. I use a mulching mower and leave everything for fertilizer.

The leaf blower got one of its few chances to do something besides LBT, The end of the ramp was packed full of leaves that the leaf rake can't get to, so the LB did the trick. Of course did that after I mowed the leaves I had raked from the flower beds yesterday, so started the mower back up and took care of that batch too.

Fixed my decorative windmill and got it set up for the season.

Almost ran over a hawk on the way home from the grocery store. He/she was sitting in the middle of my lane and not moving. I stopped and put my flashers on, motioning the traffic behind me to go around. I finally got out of the truck and got within a couple of feet before he moved and painfully made his way into a tree. The wings looked okay, I thought maybe a leg was injured and he had a bunch of loose feathers hanging along his belly. I went home and put away the cold stuff and went to see if he was still there or just stunned (it was literally around the corner from my house so I walked).

Yep, so called the local PD, who transferred me to fish & game. I no more than got off the phone with their dispatch and the hawk drifted off the tree and landed at the edge of a side road with a thump.

I sat on the other side of the street and watched the hawk sitting there on the ground for over an hour. He then got up and flew away, barely skimming over the top of a house. Called F&G and told them to cancel the officer. We have few wardens and I'm sure whomever was on duty was on a more important mission than checking on an injured bird. Hopefully it lives to hunt mice, chipies and other rodents another day.

Hawks seem to be abundant this year. I go to my dad's in Revere 2-4 times a month and will see at least 3-5 hawks sitting in the median of rte 95 between Portsmouth and northern Mass. see a few dead ones now and then too as well as seeing one or two fly off at car level across the highway.

Happy the new blower will be here tomorrow!! UPS says tomorrow but still a long ways away, even if Tuesday, still GREAT! I'll get it in Wed at the latest, electric bill needs a break from the space heaters :emptywallet:

I mentioned here a few months ago my preferred pellets were not burning as well as the last few seasons, I have to wonder if it was the exhaust fan all along and the pellets were as good as in past. We'll see, over 1/2 ton left to go before summer a ton of another brand of pellets for the summer.

Sorry the hawk was injured BB, hope he heals up.

Yup, sorta, after my fall last spring the boss got the whole nine yards. Every year the buttons get replaced.Whole system is cell based. Got rid of a few buttons.

ETA:Still fighting the occasional hypo readings, going to see about a slight change in BP meds.

Yesterday dawned dry and with some sun.

Dragged out the Munchy machine and plowed through 3 barrels before the weather started closing in on us.
Had breakfast then wrapped things up before heading to town.

Picked up a piece of 1/8" x 2" flat bar to cut up and add a nice sloped flange around the top of the Munchy hopper to help stop materials from falling off the sides of the plastic scoop and getting under foot.

Still have a few minor mods to make to the machine...mostly little stuff that does not really affect the way it works.

I have designed an "Adjustable positive stop" for the anvil to allow opening the anvil gap to clear trash jams and then be able to quickly reset the adjustment and get back to work..

The two bolts that hold the belt guard to the hopper require fooling with getting the nuts under the guard and on the bolt while tightening things up.... Going to insert the bolts from the bottom of the guard bracket and tack welding the bolt head to the bracket. .... This will make removal and reinstall far easier/faster

Still wanting to wait on the paint job until all these mods are finished up and nothing more in the way of issues pop up.

So far the little beast is just working fabulous.. exceeding all expectations.

Yesterday I did a "Performance run" and plowed through a barrel full in 20 minutes.

This was "HEAD DOWN AND GO"...Not my usual pace, but definitely showed the full potential.

The weather is not looking great today, so I will possibly get after some of the little stuff..... MAYBE

I try to be careful but I am a Bear with oversized paws that keep me in trouble.
