I bought a dna kit for my aged shepherdX in 2004, regret I did not get it done before she passed but did use it on Blackie dog in late 2000's. I'm guessing they have really advanced since then, but... Crazy results but make sense! 50% terrier mutt with some aussie, 25% Burmese Mountain dog, 25% Chihuahua. Still cannot figure out how a chih and BMD were bred :loco: . I was certain he was terrier, but never would have guessed the following, though the coat markings and head/eyes/teeth are are all classic of of BMD and chih.

I will add later of the ShepX. Keep in mind she is 16 in the picture, still damp from a bath. Sweet as ever, and darn proud she made it onto the couch while I was putting the cover back on in her condition.

    Sorry she's sideways.

Anyway I (we) have trapped two cats and TNR'd them, as well as two baby coons that were relocated. No luck on the remaining big mean coon that rips up the stray cat, nor the stray cat. Pffft. He is mending yet once again, but still....

I put the Racoon Hitman request out on our neighborhood board, haven't seen the coon in a couple weeks now.

Well Holly gets to go to the vet this afternoon. After I went to bed I guess she started scratching her ear a lot. He told me about it as he is walking out the door to go to work. A few minutes after he left, she came over and stood next to me wanting to go out. As usual, rubbed rt ear and went to rub left and she wined and backed up. So appt made.

Just got back from vets. She.has a left ear infection. Running a 101 temp. The vet gave her.a dose of some sort of gel that works for 20 days. Also sent her home with antibiotic med and pain med that is equal to advil. Plus I pick up 6 month of flea and heartworm meds. Expensive visit. Oh her anxiety for the trip.

Glad your both home safe and the vet fixed her up:) What kind of infection? If it works on ear yeast infections I need to find some for Blondie.

They cleaned it but did get much junk out. They did not say yeast. Just that it was really inflamed and swollen. Since she just showed symptoms last nite, hopefully we caught it soon enough to not cause any more issues.

    Hope she's better soon.

I took the whole pack for annual checkups and vacs yesterday, some additional blood work for Oliver, they think he might be hypothyroid, he's gaining weight and very low on energy, picked up seresto collars and heartworm meds:emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet:

What is a good preventative for ticks and fleas???
Ticks are pretty popular here from what I hear.

I get advantix from my vet. Since we have lived here I don't think I have seen any fleas or ticks on our dogs.

I started using the seresto collar last year, I still found attached ticks but they were always dead.

Would there be any concern of the other pup ingesting chemicals from the collar ?? These two spend the good majority of the day wrestling like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage back in the day !!

    I'd ask your vet.

The collars are pretty tough but I wouldn't underestimate the dogs ability to chew them. I'm guessing ingesting bits of the collar would be more of a digestive blocking issue than a toxin issue from the chemicals.

That's one of the downsides with the collar is if they get lost or otherwise destroyed then you are out the whole cost of the collar.

You mentioned the wrestler Randy Savage (macho man).

His sidekick was "the lovely Elizabeth"...remember?

Didn't mean to remind you of your dead cat.

There could be. Depends on the puppy's size. Check with vet and the cautions on the package.

87237F04-CF12-40FE-BA37-56F77A535C48.jpeg They also stopped by the vet for heartworm checks , 1 year checkups etc.. vet recommended the liquid treatment if we could keep them separated for a couple hours.. then all that’s left is the oily residue and that’s non toxic.. the one the have also helps with mosquitos, black flies and other flying pests...
They sure do look funny after their spa day....
