Just finished the last cutting for a friend. We will load this in his trailer on Friday. Another friend's Mom is having 2 trees taken out. The smaller tree is down and I got a good load out. It is all split and stacked now. The second tree is due for this weekend. Lots of wood in this tree! This one will be shared with some other folks. I will get pictures this time!
Larger tree came down late last night. I got a call early this morning to "come get some wood, Oh, and bring the saw with the long bar and your wedges and your big maul and the cant hooks". So away I went. Bucked up the logs and split a bunch into manageable pieces. Came away with enough wood to complete my last stack. Unfortunately, I am now on wood restriction with the Wif because I'm crowding her parking place with my truck because the wood is in my way. I guess I'll just have to sell that deodar so I can keep cutting!
Had a good belly laugh! Last night I helped my friend and his neighbor load the last of the limbs and debris from the tree in my last picture into a borrowed dump truck. There were two butt rounds left on the ground and the stump which I cut into two more. I got to use my new Fiskars 8lb splitting maul to bust up these rounds so they were small enough to load in a pickup. Worked very well although we had to use wedges on the very lowest round. The wood was that fibrous and twisted. I am currently on firewood stoppages (Wife) , so I didn't want the wood, and a couple of friends we called were out of state and could not get it. The neighbor wanted the wood gone so he could do his final rake and clean. My friend lives in a quiet residential area on a road that has slightly more than local resident use. I got the bright idea to pile the wood next to the road and paint "Take Me" on both sides of a 24" cookie left over from earlier, to make a double sided sign for the pile. While I was painting the sign with my marking paint, the neighbor got a bottle of BSB Brown Sugar Bourbon and iced glasses. I set the sign and we sat on my tailgate to drink it. It took only 11 minutes and six cars til a big white 4x4 slowed past us and turned around. There was an upper middle aged Gent inside that started pointing at the pile and thumbed up with a questioning look on his face. When we nodded he got a big grin and backed up to the pile. He lived next street over. We helped him load it and he drove away with a nice jag of wood, a happy man!
My GF says if i bring another truck full of wood home she is going to leave me metalcuttr . Im really going to miss her. Can you park your truck in the street and stack more wood in its place? Just a thought!!! Its amazing how fast free wood can go missing!
