    I'm thinking black locust. I couldn't get a pic of the end grain or a split.

    Not much of a shade canopy, eh?

    There were others used as light poles. They'll probably outlast most of us.

    We're visiting down to cape cod and saw these.

    If you know anything about Bigfoot, you instantly recognize this as one of its territory marking habits. He may have used them as a scent posts, do they smell like beef jerky?
