... an old 1970s / 1980s Hobie Cat 16, with no sails or mast, etc. (I'll put this under the Boating thread too). My pea brain seems to want to build a mini pontoon boat. My honey and I have always wanted to live on a lake somewhere, for years... but that isn't in the cards. This might be a good alternative. Not interested in the big pontoon boats at all. I have an old family 6 hp Johnson motor that runs like a top. Folks bought it new when I was a junior in HS... almost 50 years old now... An old HC 16, that's been out back of someone's house collecting dust, might be the perfect float set-up. So... we live in Maine... anyone have, or know of, an old "floats only" Hobie 16 somewhere in our neck of the woods? Sure would appreciate any help. Thanks !!!

I don't think the shipping would be worth it if we found one here. There should be lots of old boats around as people get older and don't use them anymore. Because of the "environmental" cost to dispose of them, many just sit in marinas and gather barnacles and kelp.
Yeah... I agree... unless I could find a trucker, dead heading back to Maine (unlikely) from your side of the planet Woodwidow ... not much hope. I know of one down below Boston right now. More $$ than I want to spend. And another down in Pensicola Fl, that friends might be able to get back to their place... then I'd have to drive down to pick it up. Just getting started with searches Jack Straw ... we have another swap possibility here called Uncle Henry's... no luck there yet... thought maybe one of my buddies on FHC might run across one. Good trip ovah to Santa's Village in NH today. Met the seller and pulled this home. In great shape. Spent 95% of it's life in storage, out of the sun. Never been in salt water. Trailer's in great shape too. Going to be a fun project...
