We have quite a range of musical interests on FHC. Here is a selection from the classical realm for anyone interested:

I have recently been revisiting Glenn Gould's 1974 recordings of Bach's English Suites. I have all Gould's Bach recordings on LP, but I am glad that it is so easy to pull things up on youtube for a quick fix. I am in awe of the precision in both the composition and Gould's playing.

My mother had a Beach Boys 8-track in her car, I will forever remember the fun times with that always playing.

I remember having to wedge a pack of matches underneath to get the tape aligned so the sound was right. :tears:

And with some patience and a soft touch, you could repair a broken tape!

I have an '74 Cadillac "Eldorado" convertible. 8 track tape player with a box of yard sale tapes.
Would be nice to have EC & BB "riding with the king" but I'm stuck with yard sale finds. The old Elvis and country music tapes get the job done.

The last few years, I've been making a killing when it comes to yard sales and people getting rid of VHS tapes! Of all the ones I've bought, I think only two or three have played a couple times and then broke. Usually, they are 3/1.00 so no big deal! I do have some doubles, but I have two players DVD and VCR in both the garage and cottage; I'm thinking close to 800 movies in total of just VHS!

There's a foil splice that is/was notorious for drying out and rapidly becoming a non-splice. It didn't take long for the adhesive to dry up and fail even when tapes were relatively new. Cassettes had the splice too but not the same sharp bends inside the cassette cartridge.
