Wife said she was going to look at pups today. I know what that means...New pup on the way! So this is the new member. No name yet. I was thinking puddles, or screamer, but I'm sure that isn't going to work with the wife. 8 weeks old, Border Collie/Kelpie/McNabb cross. Super cow dogs. Seen the parents. The father is an animal! Big and stocky and can run for days. Should be a good worker.
Congrats on the puppy! I just did the same thing, saw a redbone hound puppy on a rescue site, and next thing I know I am the proud new parent of a new pup...or should I say a new shark or gator or snapping turtle- man, you forget how sharp those puppy teeth are! But, it’s temporary and I think she’ll end up being a great little member of the family; and my new firewood helper! And, my senior citizen redbone hound seems happy to have her and show her the ropes.
Not to be a jerk, I know it is just me... I hate puppies! Yes they are cute, yes they are fun and so forth, but I myself will never have one again. I love dogs but just hate the puppy stage. I really think if dog were to happen to me again I would minimal 1 year old for an age. Glad you like them but just not for me. Am I the only one?
Good looking puppy. My wife got a new puppy last week. A 13 week old Yorkie. Cute thing, but very active. It seams to be smart and will take some training. I tried to get some pictures, but this is the best one. I can't get her to stand still.
I was raised with hounds. Smart dogs. stubborn and bull headed until you understand them. I have had hounds or hound mixes pretty much all my life. One of the best dogs we had was an indoor Treeing Walker coon hound. We moved to the sticks and the wife wanted a big dog, while I was away. She would put the pup under her shirt to keep it warm. Smart dog and she would hunt. I have met at least one of your dogs at Well Seasoned 's. Very well behaved . It has been at least 20 years since we have had a puppy. Many adult rescued dogs since then. This Yorkie puppy is going to be a handful.
I can certainly understand where you're coming from, but it doesn't last long and there is nothing like raising a dog from a pup in terms of the bond you can make with them.
