This monster came down tonight after work. The pictures don’t do it justice. 9919E7C1-7FC3-4AB2-B668-5767E91353BC.jpeg 2A48AB5B-42EE-4135-9005-3F98A5E5D200.jpeg 7AF41032-5193-450B-B175-872FF4C1D751.jpeg Even got the bonus split with it :D I’ll have to admit I’m not to great at the whole hinge cut but I did manage to drop it right where I wanted without hanging it. 6C4E5373-1849-476F-B862-98703D9AE4B8.jpeg

You have some gnarly looking trees. Good job getting it down.

Never seen Osage Orange get that big. Looks like something from the willow family or cottonwood.

We have them that way here- particularly when they’re competing with other trees in a wooded area, similar to Diesel 4 life ’s situation.

It does look like you need some help on the felling. Get with someone who has experience and you'll be a pro in no time.

Osage Orange makes great knife handles... never had it as firewood, never will. Any good?

Man that would make some beautiful bowls! Our Osage Orange don't seem to get that big either. Finish cutting it up while it is green. Once dry, sparks will fly off of the chain while trying to cut it.

I’ve seen some with larger trunks but the aren’t normally as tall as that one was.
    That’s a 20” bar

You know the yellow brick road didn't start out yellow, that is what worked best for color filming.

Glad you got it down OK,

Don't get into the habit of "sloping back cuts", this is a very bad practice. If you are having trouble visualizing, make a mark in the bark with the saw drawing a line where you want the back cut to be. This is real handy on steep terrain. Here watch this, Terry Hale does a good job:
